I'm also gonna ask a few questions, if you have the time lemme know answers. Sorry if they've been posted before, I did look at the stickied help links and topics and such but these were the ones I wasn't able to get answered.

-Is there any way to remove accessories without destroying them? This seems pretty harsh ;( I didn't know when I attached my proto crest that it was gonna be stuck on my fencing coat forever. I already ran into an armor whose appearance I like more.
-I saw something that seemed to indicate that playing with multiple people in dungeons is more profitable. However, it seems to me like I am a little better off playing on my own, because I don't die (atm!) unless there's severe lag, and that means all material drops become mine. Does having more people increase the number of monsters/crowns/heat/whatever?
-Is there a way of telling the number of floors a ranked mission will take? The wiki doesn't seem to list this information.
-Any use for recipes that I've already learned besides unbind and sell? (which seems counterproductive, at least for the ones I have)
-Expansion Players: How fun is this compared to the rest of the game's content (like new enemies and maps: how cool are they?), and is it significantly more/less tough? Is tier one expo about as tough as tier 1 arcade, etc? How does the variability of the expansion gate compare to the arcade gates?

Also, I like tabbing people, but I wish there was some kind of refund or something for when you tab someone and then they leave as soon as the next floor starts. It's discouraging me from helping other people out :(

I'll try to answer everything in one go

1. There is no way to remove accessories without destroying them, this is why you really need to think about what ur putting them on. Sorry but thats just how it goes :\

2. Playing with a group is almost always better as you all get equal amounts of crowns and you also get more heat. You may not be dying now, but from tier 2 onward its always better to have a buddy with you to help you revive, plus, if you revive someone else, you get some more heat which is always great. Also, the more people you have, the larger variety of minerals you get as well; everyone gets the same amount of minerals so if there are three people and one has a purple, one has a red, and one has a blue, everyone gets purple, red, and blue minerals.

3. You can find out how many floors a mission will take by going into the menu (its the gear icon if i remember correctly) and mousing down to "gate map." You should be able to see how many floors a mission will take, plus the route you have taken if you were doing arcade.

4. I dont really understand ur question...if you learn a recipe, thats it. It will be located in your crafting machine and you can use it as much as you want. You can't unbind already learned recipes.

5. I have played operation crimson hammer, and its pretty damn awesome. The items you get are cool and its overall a fun few levels. The expansion's tiers work exactly like they do normal game so you wont be getting insanely hard enemies at tier 1, much like you wont get insanely easy enemies at teri 3.

6. Sorry, theres no benefit to tabbing ppl besides the feeling of gratitude. So yeah, unless you have a huge stockpile of crystal energy, dont tab.

I hope that answers your questions, have fun playing Spiral Knights! :D

After I bought a recipe, I then ended up getting it from a mission in the next set of ranked missions. I was wondering if there's anything I could do with it.

That being said, thanks for all the other answers, really helped out.

you can sell it to a vendor

If you don't want a recipe, then you can sell it to a vendor in the Bazaar. You will get disappointingly little money, but at least you will clean up your arsenal.

Playing in a group shoud be easier and faster, provided everyone's competent.

Being faster indirectly mean you could get more rewards, since you can play more levels in less time, provided you have energy.

Processing Thoughts of You Always

Pros of group play:

  • Levels can be explored and cleared much faster
  • Free health revives
  • More variety in weapons carried
  • Extra mineral carrying capacity
  • Ability to gain extra heat - reviving another person gives you 30% of their heat

Cons of group play:

  • PUGs may contain morons, trolls, people who refuse to get on the button or those who require revives every 30 seconds
  • Extra characters increase the health of monsters encountered by a certain amount, making them harder to kill quickly
  • Materials will be shared between members of the party according to an RNG; you will get less materials
  • Others will compete for vitapods and may break heart boxes well before you get there, meaning you don't get healed

Personally I find that running Clockworks is generally most efficient in a party of two people. This means both people get a good amount of materials and a decent chance of having Vitapods, with the added bonus of being able to distribute heat if necessary and reviving without using energy. The level can also be completed much faster, with only a marginal difference in enemy health.

Of course, this only works if your partner has equipment appropriate for the tier and is reasonably skilled. If you've somehow managed to obtain a dude in Proto Gear with a Heavy Hatchet and Frost Gun on a FSC run, the former does not apply.

Processing Thoughts of Herp Derp

Since I managed to double post, I suppose I might as well use it.

  • There is currently no way to reliably remove accessories without destroying them. You can make a request to a GM for your accessory to be removed, but as a rule of thumb they would only remove it if it was put on by accident (say you had multiple pieces of Wolver gear with different UVs, and put it on the wrong one). For them to do this is also extremely uncommon. In your case, it's not going to happen; your best bet would be to ask someone else to put a Proto Crest on the piece of armour you want it on, or its 2* predecessor. (I think I have one in my accessory section somewhere, if you've got an unbound armour for me to put it on.)
  • There is! Up in the top left-hand corner of the screen is a little button with a cog icon on it. Clicking on it should provide a drop-down box. If you enter the mission's start room and click on it there (or in the Clockworks, for that matter), you can select an option called 'Gate Map'. It will provide you with some detail of how many levels you'll be up against, their theme, the monsters within, and sometimes even the map layout (Jelly Farm has a set map, for example).
  • Unfortunately it's impossible to unbind recipes, in order to prevent people from making a quick buck off HoH recipes. The vendor is your only option in this case.
  • The expansion is fun, but you may wish to watch some Youtube videos of it first, just to get a feel of what it will contain. The Hammer is certainly a worthwhile reward, and the Mask is an excellent helmet. Do the expansion on a full mist tank, though, since you will almost certainly need some for revives. Also, don't enter the version above your tier unless you either:
    1. really enjoy pain
    2. are paying other people a ton to get you through it.
  • There's no refund, unfortunately. Normally when I'm tabbed by people, I offer them some kind of compensation, but this is just out of politeness and regrettably, many people will not even bother to do this.

As a rule of thumb, I refuse point-blank to tab people right off the bat (unless they are either on my friends list, or I am paying them to help me out). If they turn up in my party and tell me that I 'need their services' to finish the mission successfully and that I should pay them CE, I will kick them from the party. If someone in my party is running out of energy and has been in the party for several levels, then I will generally be willing to tab as long as I still have enough mist.
