How to solo Devilite armies?

Hey there, I've always had trouble with soloing large groups of devilites, especially once they have been promoted. I am a swordmaster. I can handle any other monster group in the game, but this monster family has proven really tricky for me to figure out. Does anyone have any tactical advice, besides the obvious use piercing weapon/shadow defense? Thank you!

I suppose I should clarify my issue: I know that interrupting these guys is really simple. I have trouble, though, in that their attack animation is so fast that I have no time to react. If I lower my guard to attack one devilite, then another one nearby might just break my back with an office chair. The chances of death by office chair multiply as the number of devilites in my vicinity increases. I need some way to attack while maintaining my defense.

I am working on the 8-1 missions, both of which feature fiends. The hardest encounter I've had yet is in the level where you pop blue cubes in the middle of a small area with a circle of spikes around you. The area is full of promoted devilites, your retreat is gated off, and the circle of spikes cuts down on your movement. I try to rush a corner to limit being surrounded and to aggro as few devilites as I can, but they are all so fast they follow me very easily, forcing me to run somewhere else where I aggro even more devilites. Pretty soon it's like animal house in an office, and they beat me like a broken printer.

Dont do a full combo if it isnt safe, shield cancel and circle around.
Keep all devilites on one side so you dont have projectiles coming from multipe directions.

A few tips?

Shield.
Use a toothpick and shield cancel only the first swing. DO NOT full-combo.
Do not move in straight lines or stop moving.

Kill priority is usually as thus: Overtimers -> Devilites -> Yesmen -> Pit Bosses.
-> Overtimers HURT.
-> Devilites will try to murder you, but not as much as Overtimers.
-> Yesmen, while harmless, will become Overtimers if you kill 'their' Pit Boss. If you are lucky, you will only have Yesmen and Pit Bosses at the end of the room.
-> Pit Bosses are incapable of harming others directly, but if you have a problem with killing devilites fast enough to stop their 'promotion', then kill the pit bosses first.

If you are alone, you automatically pick up all the aggro. Try to stay out of sight of the others who aren't chasing you. See also, Kats. They stay passive at a distance, which is within your sight - just - which is close enough to hit them with a Pulsar/Valiance/Alchemer charge.

Devilites stay at a fixed distance from you. Throw in an Electron charge, kite, and voila! you have a stationary devilite. Even dodging overtimers aren't immune to them. Heck, even Snarby isn't immune to vortices, so Devilites can't be.

Thanks for the advice, guys

I was thinking about getting a vortex bomb, actually. While the Electron Vortex is preferable for me, I am already building a Voltedge and by now I can barely stomach the PvP grind any longer. I'll probably just get the Graviton Vortex. Nevertheless, it's good to read some confirmation that a vortex bomb is a good idea.

I appreciate the advice, maybe I will give the mission another go! I wish I had the Divine Veil already. Would make it much easier I think.
