UV Rate vs. Heat Correlation

In my personal experience, I've noticed a very strong correlation between amount of heat going into an upgrade vs. the chance of a UV appearing.

NONE of the items I've upgraded at zero heat have ever yielded a UV, and EVERY item I've upgraded at ten heat have yielded a UV.
This has been true for both low-star and high-star items of equal heat levels.

I'm not sure how/if relative UV power factors into this. I think UV power might be related to star level in some way.

Based on what I've personally seen, I'm very certain this relationship exists. However, I only represent a handful of data points, so it could be a fluke.

What are other people's observations about this phenomenon. Try to keep speculation to a minimum.

Did you have a 2 star UV item

Did you have a 2 star UV item and THEN started upgrading? Because if so, it transfers by default...

As for me, even though it's not smart, I always got my weapons to level 10 before upgrading (usually because I didn't have the money to outright upgrade) and I NEVER got a UV just because of that.

This includes
Hot Edge ->Searing Edge
Calibur ->Tempered Calibur->Ascended Calibur
Spiral Demo Suit->Fused Demo Suit->Heavy Demo Suit
Wolver Cap->Dusker Cap->Ash Tail Cap
Owlite->Horned Owlite->Wise Owlite

Easy way to disprove this

Easy way to disprove this theory.

All 4* Items require Level 10 to hit 5*

Not all 5* items are UV...otherwise you'd never see a normal Vog Cub Cap.

::::No, because I'm not an idiot. I realize that there's a lot of kids and other silly people on this site, but please give me the benefit of the doubt. I realize you have to plug in your computer for it to turn on, I know to leave the windows cracked when my dog is in the car, and I know about UV transfer.

"As for me, even though it's not smart, I always got my weapons to level 10 before upgrading (usually because I didn't have the money to outright upgrade) and I NEVER got a UV just because of that... [list of items]"

::::If all of those were upgraded with ten heat at every step along the way, then it indeed does a great deal to invalidate my hypothesis.

::::I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I never meant to suggest that the UV rate for a 10 heat item is actually 100%, I was just using my personal experience to suggest that the percentage is measurably higher than average.

Any other experiences?

Pretty sure that's false;

Pretty sure that's false; Myself, only a single item of mine got an UV when upgrading. All others either had no UVs at all, or the UV was on its first craft. Here's some information on this:

Cold Iron Vanquisher: Got to level 10 on every upgrade. No UV.
Divine Avenger: VS Fiend Low obtained on final upgrade; This was traded with a friend for a Gran Faust. The Gran Faust had no UV.
Another Divine Avenger: VS Undead Medium obtained on first upgrade. Didn't level past 5, bought from a friend, aswell.
Final Flourish: Only got up to the required levels. No UV.
Gran Faust: Got to level 10 on every upgrade. No UV.
Another Gran Faust: Only got up to the required levels. No UV.
Blitz Needle: Only got up to the required levels. No UV.
Storm Driver: Got to level 10 on every upgrade. No UV.
Vog Cub Cap: Got to level 10 on every upgrade. No UV.
Grey Owlite Shield: Low Normal Defense Bonus obtained on final upgrade. Got to level 10 on every upgrade.

That's about it. As you see, none of the gear which I made myself had UVs, except for the Grey Owlite. If the chance was increased with higher level gear, I'd probably be swamping in UVs.

Side-note: Some of those items had obtained an UV on the very first craft, although not the upgrades. I ended up simply not transferring those because they sucked. (VS Gremlin High on my Voltech Alchemer. Seriously?)

I hate UVs and UVs hate me.

Thanks for responding. We

Thanks for responding. We need more people.

So far things don't look good, but I don't think any of this settles this debate (yet).

I'm thinking the real equation would be something like

UV rate (%) = [Base Rate (10%)] + [Heat Level]*[5%]

Even if I'm right, both kakelgis and I would be strong outliers, regardless. I just happened to fall on the nice side of the bell curve :).

We need more data points! Can other people weigh in?

You seem kind of hostile. Did someone hurt your feelings recently? I'm here if you need a hug.

And no, I haven't seen any kind of correlation between heat and UV's.
