I think a new city would be nice. Haven does get boring like you said, but how would you implement it in the game without questions? It would sound like "HEY EVERYONE NEW CITY OVER HERE!" Doesn't make much sense.

About open world, exploration in SK is supposed to be brief, as in clockworks levels. If you want to travel to this new city then there should be a "Steam" train. Haha! Get it? In all seriousness, though, I don't like this idea.

Also, EVERYONE?! I believe that would produce lag up the walls! Then, what would happen if you were having a nice pleasant conversation with a friend and then- "Hey we are gonna fight now and you can't avoid it!"? Plus, would there be a consequence for failing? Because that sounds like a bad idea. And how would monsters damage and health be calculated with T1-3 knights mixed together?

I don't think anyone will really be opposed to expanding haven. It could use a fresh sector.

As far as an entire new city goes, I wouldn't ADD a city, but just expand upon Moorcroft and Emberlight. Instead of keeping those instanced to just your group, they could perhaps make that a shared instance (you would be able to switch between servers while in these areas). This would give a new "City" type area as well as places to get together with knights looking to go down to deeper depths of the clockworks. Also, groups would be able to stay grouped up while in these cities

Open world: meh. I think we should be able to run around with a weapon in our hand in some areas perhaps, but open world just seems kind of weird to me for SK. I'm not completely opposed to the idea, but I think that it could be screwed up easily.

Random Attacks on Haven: Cool idea, but as mentioned before, you'd have T1 mixed in with T3 knights so determining the difficulty of the monsters would be tough. The tiers could be separated by server perhaps (Haven 1: T3 Haven 2: T1) but then people might avoid servers simply because they dont/do want a harder fight.

Interesting.

I like the idea of random attacks on haven, it would give the game a more dynamic feel.If you remember correctly, uppon nearing haven you pass thro a fiew platforms of clockworks where knights have been stationed to deffend haven and you can see plenty of gremlin corpses (from attacks on haven), wich leads to the fact that haven can eventualy be under attack. A siren could be used to warn about the attack, and tell knights to prepare. After the siren you have say, 2 minutes in wich you can change your gear to suit the attack. During the attack all vendors and the AH will be unavailable, because lets face it, if you're getting attacked your not gona spend your time going thro the auction house to buy something...

As for the difficulty, there should be a mixed T1/2/3 wave. Not a specific tier, but a mixture of all, as that would provide an enemy for everyone, and prevent people from skipping havens to go do specific tiers... You should have the health set to the values in a 4 person party, where you can have quantity over quality. A large ammount of T1 Smaller ammount of T2 and even less T3 enemies. Considering T2 and 3 are deeper within the clockworks then T1 its natural that there should be less monsters of that type, considering they're boath harder to kill and and would be harder for them to reach the surface.
You can have respawn pads or just randomly spawning enemies around haven, untill a specific number of them has been killed, after wich they will retreat (gremlins, fiends), fall appart (construct, undead and jellies) or run away (beasts). Of course the ammount you have to kill would be random to each haven (for instance in haven 5 you'd need to kill.. say, 150 undead. While in haven 10 you would need to kill only 120. These values shouldnt be too far from eachother, to prevent things like : haven 1 has 10 gremlins to kill while haven 3 has 300.) Another thing to add to that would be loot managment, unlike the clockworks where everyone gets money thats been picked up, here you could have random peaces of loot dropped by enemies, and after the attack is complete everyone who's been there thro the entire attack and participated in the defence, would get a loot box wich works simularly to the Prize boxes except it has a chance to drop any loot you can find in the clockworks. It basicly works like a tresure box you can carry around with you, the difference is that it would have a higher chance to drop a peace of gear; be it weapon, armour, slot upgrades, heat amps, mist tanks, crowns, materials, UV tickets, exd.. That would bring some payoff for fighting the swarms of enemies trying to take over your home.

As for the consequence of failiure. You can have a haven destroyed by an attack, if say said number of enemies get to all areas of haven and stay there for a said ammount of time they would brake the place. Wich also can raise tactical thinking in knights, because if you have everyone in the town square there would be no one to defend the bazaar or the arcade, wich also can be damaged. Destroyed havens would be disabled, as in all vendors , alchemy stations, gates inactive for some time (possibly intill reboot but that might be a bit too long, deppending on when the attack is). NPC's missing and random knights (NPC's) being seen around careing for wounded and performing repairs on things. There would be damaged areas, like fires, wreckage, corpses, exd.. Having a disabled haven isnt the end of the world, but you'd have to change the instance in order to gain access to the vendors again.

Like ^^^, here's my opinion:

Haven Expansion: 1. Haven is a town. 2. Same as Lordonar's reason.

Open World: 1. Then people would cash in for more CE for their dungeon raiding and F2P players will have a hard time, CE Prices rising. 2. I agree but... Number 1's got a point.

Uhhh........... I don't know about the random attacks...
What if all the T2-T3 knights are in the arcade and all the knights left are T1 knights?

[EDIT: Due to the comments on this one, I have pondered and yes, I should've thought about that XD but... some people do arcade runs and change the arcade into doing missions in my comment. =_="]

I agree with Yttriu, how do you determine which tier monsters to send when haven has players from all tiers? Also, most people use Haven as a place to rest when they are AFK or something, I don't think they would be too happy to come back and find their knights dead -_-. As for the open world, I'm going to talk about it through 2 perspectives. First lets talk about the Knights perspective, currently it would be absolutely useless to go out and look for other cities as 1.They only have a limited amount of knights 2.The other places could be hostile 3.Since they are looking for a core replacement for the Skylark and the only thing that seems suitable is in the core itself. If you were looking for a coin would you look in your wallet or the fridge? If you were looking for Vanaduke would you look in Haven or the Clockworks? Logic please

I agree with You, there should definitely be some new city as you said. It would be cool if they make another city different from Haven, for example "Inferno" or "Cataclysm" ( "Hell" is kinda too rough if you ask me :P )

That would be like Skolver vs. Vog Cub just in cities. Also ( damn, now you gave me bunch of ideas with this XD ) if we have 2 cities, then we could make Lockdown and Blast Network matches between those cities.

And maybe.. When You have crashed - made a new character - you can decide from what city are you > Haven ( light, divine and angelic ) or Inferno/Cataclysm ( dark and volcanic ). That would like Your Tribe or something :)

Is there a point for new cities or Haven expansions? Without anything to fill in, we'll have empty, worthless space or duplciated stuff, with a different theme.

First you have to think of actual features we could use that improve the game.

Also, we dont have a big palyerbase to cover all the Haven instances available right now.... splitting it into more cities will feel desserted.

Good point here, but what if OOO lower the actual number of Havens? Then we could have new city + it's wont 'feel desserted' ;)

Random attacks on haven

As Skyrazer said earlier , it would be a mixture of each tier so that all knights can take part in defending haven. If everyone works together it shouldn't be a problem.

To solve another problem earlier, there could be a battlefield attached to haven and the new city if implemented into the game. In the battle field there would be a respawn point, an arsenal station, and healing spot. There would be healing spot put randomly in the battlefield. The monster would be here for a while. They would have a leader who just shout retreat and they run away. It would just be a way to have fun , i keep hearing people say that they are bored of mission.

I guess u guys dont really like the open world idea. I just thought it would be fun to explore and find out more about cradle from artifact found undergound and by talking to strangers.

Ill add weapon ideas and other stuff at the top soon, with my own drawings.

Hmm...

Not sure if we should have a city. After all, we are in cradle and there is a little town. So I guess we can. Give more details about the city so I can rate it. Also, Haven is a little village or town, and there should not be attacks as Haven will be destoyed and the game would be over

Look, i meant it like a minigame that you can take part in if you want. Haven wouldn't be destroyed. Because there is unlimited respawn and after like 15 minutes the monsters would disappear.

I didnt mean like a big huge city i just meant another small town. Haven is supposed to be the biggest town on cradle

My take:

In theory, this is a direction I would like to see all games go, eventually. Open world, however, is probably the most high-effort concept to implement into anything. SK still has issues that need to be dealt with, and it also needs more content. Not just more bosses, but we also need more regular levels. And weapons. Hence, for now, I'd like to see haven kept as an actual haven, and as the only city on cradle. While grand concepts like defense of haven are very appealing, they would take craploads of balancing, programming, and art. They would also be laggy and server-demanding affairs. Additions/tweaks to moorcraft and emberlight would be acceptable.

Now, on to expanding haven;

Haven very clearly has an empty zone, on the far right. You can see a path leading off where the stranger who talks about gremlins is. If you go to the arcade, on the gate construction side, there is quite clearly another path. There are several things that we could put here. I've seen suggestions that the guildhall go here, and that king krogmo's colosseum go here. Point being, when haven is expanded, there should probably be at least SOMETHING to put in that space, though minor out-of-the-way pieces like the area south of haven's entrance and monomi's garden are acceptable.

I agree with Addisond. There is an empty space on the right side of Haven, so I thought something should be there.
Ok here goes:

It's more like a training ground for knights who want to heat their weapons or knights who want to gain crowns. There should be a path in Haven leading to the right, just like a path on the left leading to the Bazaar. Once you go there,(and take FOREVER TO LOAD!) there will be two paths:

The top path is where knights want to gain heat (and only heat). They could fight monsters (according to their tier) for a limited amount of time. You could choose between 2,5 or 10 minutes. You can play for once a day (so they wont get an infinite amount of heat) and the monsters will drop only heat and nothing else. The monsters will vary each day (so lets say Monday is construct, Tuesday is undead, Wednesday is beast and ect)

The bottom path is where knights want to gain crowns (and only crowns). They could fight monsters (according to their tier) for a limited amount of time. You could choose between 2,5 or 10 minutes. You can play for once a day (so they wont get an infinite amount of crowns) and the monsters will drop only crowns and nothing else. The monsters will vary each day (so lets say Monday is construct, Tuesday is undead, Wednesday is beast and ect)

WARNING: You can only choose one path each day.

It's kind of like a survival challenge where if u die, the challenge is over. But if you manage to survive then you could get a couple of treasure boxes depending on your tier and time. Oh and entry fee is 10 energy.

Thats all my ideas so if people want to make changes then they are welcome to.

According to the storyline and description of Spiral Knights, energy is consumed when you use the lifts. So according to your "path" idea, we can do it the 'path' mission an infinite amount of times a day. Unless you can find a reason through the Knights perspective it really wouldn't make much sense.

The mission might not use energy, but that doesn't mean people will want to do them over and over again because the would not offer any crowns or heat maybe just some low star mats and some artifacts that you can read about, to learn more about cradle

Who cares from who is the idea?If you post ideas to be famous you missing the point in forums suggestions...I try to tell ideas so they might improve the game..If they are stupid ok if not and it really helped someone to make my idea better or they want it as it is to help the game then this is the best reward!
Futhermore if you think that someone stole your idea it is because its in the basic level without much thought..If someone took my idea and improved it i would be grateful...

Now to the theme.Having a second city i think it would be good. A change in the scenery it would be great..But i think the game must improve other things first.About guildhalls well.. in Severages thread had been suggested all things that can happen in the guildhalls so if u want to put some extra thought go to his thread even though i think that OOO made their decision..In the sega radio interview they said the guild hall update is coming soon.

Haven vs monster well not bad idea but it cant be done...The most players laag in vana because of fire...do u imagine what would happen if million players fighting millions monsters?I dont wanna see that with the current servers..

Open world..This is not a game with open world..You change the main idea that is the arcade..The game is called Spiral knights because of that..Its Half dead with the mission system dont finish it..

If you propose a siege i have an idea i dont know if its good...What you say if the guilds had a war between them.The prize would be the control of a gate of arcade..To participate in these wars or siege of gates the guild should pay ce...One guild can control only one gate...If u win the war and control the gate u can take an income(ce) a small like 1%or less i dont know(depends how many use the gate it shouldnt be very big but a good prize for the guild) ..for everyone who use this gate!Futhermore we add some meaning in the minerals.When we change the status of the gate(freeze poison etc)then the arena where the guilds will fight will be that status..Sorry for my english...

Only about 90% of them.
