Is it really worth it to carry around Acheron over GF, just for the sake of having a slightly quicker 3-hit combo, when you lose the chance to curse. Admittedly, Acheron's charge attack can be used more, and it'd easier to grind a UV Brandish than it is to get Faust with a good UV, but I was just curious if it were worth getting rid of the heavy AoE and chance to curse for the sake of a slightly quicker weapon?
Acheron VS Gran Faust?
Getting cursed < 3-hit.
If you actually use the GF charge attack, you are some kind of stupid Texas Instruments Graphing Calculators cannot even fathom. You use GF/F as a pure-combo weapon, not a charge attack weapon.
The Acheron charge attack is fancy and all, but without the status effects of the other brandishes, the damage is just much lower than the output of a Leviathan when used properly. So, assuming you have 4 weapon slots(which you should by T3), get a GF and levi and go to town. Acheron is inferior to both.
I use the faust's charge attack all the time. Big deal, it curses me and I lose the use of a weapon. If I'm playing seriously my other weapon is just as usable as the faust, so regardless of which weapon gets cursed I'll still be golden.
Getting cursed !< 3-hit
Getting cursed !> 3-hit either, since any affliction can suck.
So... Getting cursed = 3-hit, while cursing > 3-hit, so the faust wins.
Curse has always cursed both of my weapons and 3 of my 4 vial slots, which makes it pretty debilitating. That being said it's still quite handy to be able to curse a mender or wing from a ways away.
Edit: "Curse has always cursed both of my weapons and 3 of my 4 weapon slots" is not exactly what I meant <_<
That's odd. I play with only 2 weapon slots and when I get cursed I lose one weapon and 2 item slots. My friend with 3 weapon slots open says he only gets one slot cursed.
Huh, curse wouldn't be nearly as bad if it didn't take away all of my weapons and most of my vials. Clearly this is because of bias against people who haven't given OOO any money and only profited them vicariously through the consumption of CE someone else paid for! rabble rabble rabble!
Seriously though, if someone could explain why Feynt and his buddy don't get cursed as hard as I do it would be great. It's always both of my weapon slots and 3 of my 4 vial slots when I get cursed from using Faust's charge attack and was the same the few times I was cursed by a phantom.
Hassohappa, do you have any negative curse resist? Or Feynt and his friend may have positive curse resist.
I bought my extra weapon slots a few days ago and since then I've been running around the clockworks with one sword of each damage type. I always have my Leviathan Blade and Final Flourish while the other two slots I've been switching around a bit. I can't stand the slow attack speed of Avenger and Faust so I try not to equip both at the same time; instead I'm using Faust + Iceburst or Avenger + Nightblade.
I run jelly palace almost exclusively, so I've found it less annoying to use Faust vs the T2 slime and gremlin enemies that I've encountered compared to trying to use Avenger vs T2 constructs (undead are pretty pathetic in T2). I understand how to use 2-swing swords "properly" and I'm sure that works fine when soloing, but I feel they just don't do single-target damage fast enough (ignoring arguments against comparing 3* elemental with 5* normal for now).
I tend to have problems with the flamethrower puppies (Red Rovers?!) because their attacks can wreck the entire party very easily. The smack-shield-smack-shield pattern of Avenger gives them too many opportunities to shoot a line of fire through me. Even if I avoid the main attack damage, there's the issue of a lingering line of fire afterward. Similarly, Retrodes can shoot lazors through me and potentially hit allies. Typically I want to get rid of these guys ASAP and I feel like the elemental brandishes do a much better job than the Avenger for this.
On the other hand, Faust is well-suited to dealing with gremlin Scorchers. Their flame trails don't seem to be as long, so they aren't as dangerous as Red Rovers, and gremlins typically like to huddle close to each other. The AoE of a Faust's swing actually gets some use against them (I can't remember ever being able to hit more than one gun puppy with an Avenger). Oilers can amplify the danger of fighting fire enemies, but they are also good targets for Faust. Staying unshielded near an Oiler (as you would have to do if you are trying to deal massive damage to them with a Nightblade) is foolish, so the smack-shield-smack-shield pattern is actually advantageous in this case.
I might reconsider a lot of what I've said in this post if/when I get a Divine Avenger, but for now I'm stiicking with Leviathan Blade, Final Flourish, Faust, and Iceburst as my four swords.
Acheron is beast.
Charge attack is a toss up as neither really have a particularly good one. The Brandish swords are let down by the random element and Faust obviously curses you.
Normal attack then? You don't really need something slow and heavy like Faust for slimes/gremlins. Not that it's bad, but it isn't like DA where the knockback is actually helping you against undead/constructs. This is where Acheron shines IMO as the normal attack shreds slimes/gremlins.
You can't really go wrong either way. At the end of the day it's gonna come down to personal preference.
GF is sword for babarian, it will do mega damage and maga shadow it charge attack is better than A
A is good sword that do less atack and shadow than GF but it do 3 combo hit while GF do 2 combo hit
Why did you reply to a post that was made a year and a half ago?
Curse > 3-Hit.
