There's been something concerning me with what's being said about this new update coming out. I hope it gets delayed so OOO takes time to really think about it and do it right. I love the idea of guilds being able to buy items for the hall. I've been saying for a very long time they are empty and useless, that we should be able to have things like usable billiard tables and darts boards to put in them and make them fun and useful. This kind of thing would make guilds more attractive and make them have more worth. I have no problem with this being a crown suck and guilds being able to spend billions of crowns on their halls if they choose to do so.

My concern is the monthly fee that will be imposed on the guilds to keep those upgraded halls they purchase and the items those halls contain that are purchased. I fear that it will be an excess fee and once those crowns are sucked from guild members, one that won't be possible to maintain causing the guild to just loss all they invested in those halls. And a bigger concern is that it will create a situation were members who aren't rich in crowns will be forced to leave guilds because they can't pay the monthly fee to maintain their guilds hall. That it would also prevent the guild from accepting new members/newer players who are not crown rich. New users to the game could find themselves in a situation where they can't get accepted into a guild and don't have enough wealth to start one of their own. The only answer would be to set this monthly fee/rent for those halls low enough to prevent this which then would no longer be a crown suck so why bother with it at all. I'm not sure the other side of this update has been considered and I really hope it is before the update comes out. This update could end up causing more noob discrimination in the future.

What we need is

a Guild Bank so to speak, for billing and collecting guild rental fees from members. The GM can apply different pricing to different members. You want a private room in GH? No problem, here is your premium plan that cost you 20k a month. Can't pay it up front? No problem, authorize this automatic payment and Spiral Treasury will automatically deduct daily payment at tally screen.

But I think the problem is what to do with default payments. In reality, people can switch guild, go in-actives or dies in real life. What to do with bad debts? Should we send Nick and Eurydice over to collect the debts?

My feeling is the guild bank

My feeling is the guild bank should be for hall items. The guild could make it voluntary or mandatory but if it is needed for guild rental fees it is an automatic mandatory for all. Not every user on SK has 20K and many don't earn that in a month. If it is voluntary, the rich guild members can layout large amounts of crowns to make their guilds cool and the poorer members feel guilty not matching it and gain a desire to work harder to do their guild part. Peer pressure used in a positive way rather than making the richer members and officers hate the poorer ones and ultimately kicking them out over it. This update could end up making a sub-class of users.

Eh...

From my observation on the "poorer" players in my guild. Shame doesn't seem to be concept they are familiar with and they are not afraid to take every single opportunities to beg for resources.

Just keep in mind this game is marketed as F2P. Some people are very faithful to the "F" part.

It's just cosmetics and little details. It wont give you any big benefit gameplay-wise to pay for a palace or have an ungly empty hall. (or so it seems for now)

And if it becomes a crown sink, it may reduce energy prices, wichs is better for you in the end.

Yeah, I'm quite worried about this too. The guild update could either be HUGE for the market and economy, or it could be HUGE for the market and economy in the same wrong way that many of the now older updates were, with strange greedy implications. It all comes down to how OOO deals with the idea of guilds, and what kinds of sinks and requirements are put into them.

Not effecting the market is the same as badly effecting it, as the market is constantly building up in price shutting players (and thus expansion) out. Well, not the same, but still bad.

I think the halls will be

I think the halls will be much more than just cosmetic. It will be bragging rights and a show of strength and unity. It will have a hugh impact on new recruits and recruiting new members. Recruits will be more easily drawn to a guild with a palace and a larger active community. But crown sink, that palace could just as easily, possibly more easily, be purchased rather than rented every month. A crown sink would still occur with the purchase of a hall and items for the hall. A crown sink doesn't necessarily have to be a reoccurring charge to be a sink.

I also don't think a crown sink will effect the market much as I believe the market problems stem from the rewards in missions causing users to stop buying and reselling CE with real cash to obtain item/recipes causing less CE available to be sold on the market (supply) and leaving more people just needing a bit extra CE to craft from the recipes they were awarded (demand). A simple market fix would be to change the rewards on missions to crowns, mats and costume items only.
