I just wanted to thank all my friends in the game for your letters and messages of encouragement and support. I was quite down after being mistreated in my former guild and ready to leave the game entirely (I wish we could have a public discussion of those events to prevent that from happening to anyone else, but the SK admins would just censor or delete the thread entirely), but your kind words and affirmations lifted my spirits and restored my desire to remain a part of the game. I'll still have to take a break and curtail my playing time, but I won't be deleting my account anytime soon. I've decided to just forgive and forget, focus on all the good things in my life, and move ahead.

Glad we get to keep you.

Its amazing how some people can treat others behind a computer screen. Just remember, the hurt of finding out someone isn't who you thought they were (or a guild) is a small price to pay for the knowledge that they aren't someone worth your time. Embrace your friends, kindly ignore your "enemies," and enjoy life knowing that you are a quality person.

At the end of the day, you can get away from these negative people, these poor souls are stuck being themselves forever.

Some thoughts

I read your threads on The Jempire's forums. Approaching this as objectively as I can, what *I* see is that you were (quote on quote) "emotionally invested" in The Jempire, and was rather upset when you were refused an officer position.

That's perfectly alright. I'd be upset too if the rank meant much to me and I was not allowed to have it. However, the way you reacted was absolutely horrendous. You then began to channel your emotions towards the "clique" you saw as the core officer/veteran team. Simply put, you became emotionally unstable. You continued to communicate using inflammatory posts, and let the situation take control of you. Frankly, the messages you sent Ruby after your forum ban spoke volumes about your state of mind. I didn't know you were capable of doing things like that, and I believe the guild as a whole is quite disappointed in you.

Indeed, finding out somebody true colors can be very nasty. Very, very nasty...

Advice: Try not to take the game as seriously :) Then you won't be upset in the future. There's very little to lose if you don't invest so heavily.

This was an excellent example of the kind of personal attacks that were leveled against me for wanting to dicuss an issue that several members had left over. If you go back and read my posts, I no where asked for an officer position. I was just appalled upon learning that no one had been promoted to officer since 2011 and there were no plans to make any one an officer in the near future, thus I coined the phrase "power clique" to describe this phenomenon and hoped we could discuss whether or not this was indeed healthy and in the best interests of the guild. If questioning the status quo of the powers that be is inflammatory, and apparently in my former guild it was, then I'm guilty as charged.

I was hoping the guild would improve itself, but alas, any attempts to discuss it publicly were met with character attacks and censorship of the kind above. As Rommil stated above, I could walk away from the guild but you poor souls are stuck being yourselves forever.

As for the GM sharing a personal correspondence publicly with the guild - a clear violation of game etiquette from an industry professional who should know better - I'm not surprised in light of the deplorable way he and his cohorts treated me. I used to think he was pretty decent guy, so it was doubly disappointing to find out the reverse was true.

I do respect your advice, however. This was just a silly little group in a silly little game, and I shouldn't have cared so much. After all, it's not like you were really my friends, were you?

There is a variety of different reasons why Ruby could've denied an officer position. The most important one I see is that...well, we simply *don't* need any more officers as a guild. Seriously, are the officers not fulfilling their roles? I think they're doing a pretty good job. After you left, the veteran system was reorganized to have all veterans operating in some capacity as junior officers. Kind of ironic, as I think you would've gotten the authority you wanted in just a few more days. If you wanted to help the guild, what was stopping you? One doesn't need to be an officer to be a contributor. Unless of course, it was power that you desired.

I do believe the published messages are meant for the guild. The guild has few secrets to keep, and the activities of a fallen ex-guild member isn't one of them. In any case, it was worth the effort on Ruby's part to inform the guild as to precisely why you're in your current position. You forfeited your privacy the moment you cussed Ruby out and sent him a disturbingly vitriolic message. Come on, really? Regardless of the guild drama, you just snapped the ToS in two. All for a perceived management issue.

Timeline: You ask Ruby about becoming an officer (yes, we know about this). He replies no, primary citing the reason that the current officer team is sufficient, and that no new officers will be added in the foreseeable future. You leave the guild on the next day. Your threads on the guild forums cause quite a stir (possibly due to the personal attacks inserted into them, especially those thinly disguised insults hidden in that mock interview), causing several members to express their annoyance. As a result of this and your no longer being a part of The Jempire, Ruby banned you from the guild forums. You were upset about this, and things deteriorate from there, culminating in your cussing Ruby out, and his subsequently placing you on his ignore list. Leo leaves in your wake, which I suppose was somewhat expected. On the other hand, animosity began to build up on both sides. Alas, the destructiveness of words. How quickly your image crumbled.

I am posting this simply to offset the unfairly negative image you've portrayed of Jempire. The guild isn't perfect, sure. However, I do believe as you once did that The Jempire is the premier guild in the game. I'm willing to take my place in it, whatever place that may be. I believe that willingness to accept my role in the guild is what makes us different.

Go on then, go do whatever it is you enjoy doing. The Jempire is just a community bound by fellowship and similar ideals. Obviously, you've chosen to move on, and I have no grudge against that. I'm just here to make sure the guild is represented. Hopefully any readers of this post will recognize that there are multiple sides to this story.

P.S. Forgive and forget is a great way to go about this. I really don't have much to do with what happened, so the above is just for the record.
