Okay, I'm kinda new here but I'm about to reach tier 3. I just wanted to know which weapons I should upgrade. I mostly use swords and I currently have a nightblade, a sealed sword and a tempered calibur. I'm definitely upgrading the calibur but should I upgrade my nightblade or sealed sword? And if I upgrade my sealed sword, should it be a faust or an avenger?

This tells you why upgrading you other swords is more useful than upgrading a calibur. From that same page, you can find out that with a shadow sword, you only need a piercing or elemental sword to deal effective damage vs 4 families, while doing neutral to 2. If you were to use calibur as a main sword, with one of the other as the second, you deal effective damage to 2, while neutral to 4 families.
Avenger is the elemental line of sealed swords, so I would say go that path.
Also remember to get shields and upgrade your armours.

I have a sword guide for people just like you. It explains basic concepts and give detailed comparisons. In particular, Demonicsothe is right about the damage type issue. If you're using more than one sword, then none of them should be normal. You want two (or all three) of piercing, elemental, and shadow.
Yes, Calibur/Leviathan has an awesome charge attack. But some day you will have Fang of Vog for that sort of mayhem.

Nigthblade is shadow. Making faust is redundant and you lack elemental (avenger). I'd forget about calibur. You wont need it with the other 2.
