Im curious.

for the knights who have finished all the game contents, and probably master it - I have 2 questions -
(a) what keeps you playing this game ? (eg just to play LD ? just to collect-them-all ?)
(b) which would u consider as the last 3 skills / techniques / strategy you have mastered / discovered ?
(eg i recently learnt how you can shield and charge at the same time, so when u release the shield, u go into charging straight away)

as i come towards the end of the game (eg obtained 3 different armors for elemental, piercing and shadow, & 9 weapons for elemental, piercing, shadow, across swords, guns, and bombs, about to buy trinkets for swords, guns & bombs), and finally reaching end-game contents, im almost relieved the grinding is going to end.

do ppl enjoy grinding ? ok. i guess thats the hidden 3rd question. lol

a) Gotta craft 'em all.
b) I wouldn't remember. I don't think there's anything in particular that I've really discovered nor mastered in recent times.
c) Not particularly, but I can deal with it.

Answering.

(a) I play it for fun.
(b) I use shield cancelling, ninja water and charge shielding.
Explanations:
Use sword then quickly switch to shield
Get to a water globe at a certain angle while it's surrounded by shadow fire and clean it off
Use a charge attack, then shield quickly.
(c) Sort of.

(a) I don't play the game,

(a) I don't play the game, per se. If I had to say something here it would be donating my wealth to new people who show some promise.
(b) Shield-cancelling is important, though very simple to learn to use effectively. The biggest thing I learned while bombing was learning your charge times and figuring out how to put bombs down just before the charge noise completes.
(c) People do, they've told me. I don't.

A) to make and mess around

A) to make and mess around with fun sets and to chat with friends in between TL2 sessions.
B) switch shooting, single switch shooting, and how to out-toothpick pretty good Skolvers.
C) I don't mind it if there's a purpose behind it.

A) After so long the game just became a social hub for me. The game is as fun as you make it. (E.g Doing a Wrench Wand / Blitz only FSC run the other day)
B) Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.
C) Once again, grinding is as fun as you make it. Play with some fun people and it doesn't feel like a grind in the slightest.

I'm kept playing by the

I'm kept playing by the selection of weapons; you can spend as long as you want mastering one class then have all the time in the world to play with the others and start hybridisation. I also started making some story videos before my last break which was absolutely great fun, and the forums are interesting for discussion and of course a good guild to keep you occupied, in and out of SK.
Also, the fact that they do keep adding new stuff has kept me interested; since my last break started, I've come back to OCH, prestige, dailies and a lot of weapon changes to play about with. I expect more of that to come.

Couldn't say what the last few tricks I've learnt are, as it's been a while, but I've still got a lot to go for pvp; I don't do that nearly enough and I've had my pvp bomb stolen since, so I feel there's more to learn overall.

Grinding? It's best not to run just to grind, it's all psychological. As soon as you start "grinding" you just think "need to do three more floors to get this +10" and all the fun gets sucked out right there. Just do whatever floors are fun, and focus on your heat, crowns, playing with new gear or challenge gear, or helping new players etc. Focus on everything that makes it fun and before you know it you'll have nothing left to heat. :)

a) I enjoy watching the playerbase, and seeing how it reacts to what the devs do. And as Shidara said- gotta craft 'em all! I'm on armors... already made the weapons. I've got like 15 sets to go? Something like that?
b)Lol.... every time I play I find new things to master, though they're usually rather small discovery. The last big thing I "mastered" was probably the war master rocket hammer, which I had ignored for quite some time.
c) I enjoy repetitive things, although I don't grind any more. I don't have the time to do it, and I don't need to. I've got more than enough wealth to craft whatever I want, and I do so so slowly that I'm not really running out too quickly. I've still got like 3 things to sell too.

(a) I have fun wandering

(a) I have fun wandering around the Clockworks. There's probably still scenario rooms for me to discover. There's also a large social aspect.
(b) Shield bouncing monsters out of a WHB charge attack. Using the hammer charge attack to sort of scoot under Lumber attacks. I can't remember a 3rd, or at least not something in the realm of recent.
(c) I haven't really noticed the grid that some complain about. I'm usually not trying to get something ASAP so I'm not bothered by it.

a) Mostly just Blast Network

a) Mostly just Blast Network now. I've also invested a pretty big chunk of time into this game as well, so I don't want to just leave it, either.

b) Learning that Trojans can be shield bumped, shield bumping heavier enemies like Lumbers and Lichen Colonies immediately after unleashing a Brandish charge so they're forced to ride an entire wave of explosions, and moving mid-combo

c) I've always felt that grinding was the worst part of any MMO. Spiral Knights does make an attempt to make it more varied, which is nice, but the most profitable spots are also the same old thing. And my computer can't handle most of the Danger Missions without showing me a PowerPoint presentation, so it's just FSC for me.

Itsa me, Mario!

a) Well, I keep playing on because I enjoy goofing off with my guildees.
b) I don't really discover new skills, I just prefer what I learned when I became T3, and have been using those skills ever since.
c) I dunno if other people do, I don't really do anything grinding-wise, just sit in Haven or play Lockdown.

a) Friends/guildies are what

a) Friends/guildies are what really keeps me in this game. Although I'm actually giving a pause until the next meaningful update, I still come back from time to time to check on them.
b) Idk, I don't actually think about strategies and such, just use what appears to be most useful at certain time so... Shield bumb/cancel I guess?
c) So so, if it's not extreme grinding I'm fine with it.

fun fun

A) Multipart answer.
First, what kept me playing (and kept the feeling of grind at bay) was to switch from being a 90% swordie into a full-time gunner. After i leveled those up, i created an alt to be a full-time bomber. Then I came back to my main and leveled up some new toys.

Second, what has kept, and to a smaller degree keeps me playing, is the collection of new toys to use, and cool costumes to wear. Also, just the collection in general. There are still a few items i have always wanted, and wether i level them up or not, i'd like to have them, to say i had them, before i someday stop logging on altogether. Such as a vh ctr electron Vortex. These are mainly UV'd items. Also, i stick around in very small doses just to see what new auras and costumes they'll make. (tho i'm not a fan of the whole box promo thing). I'd be interested to see what the next truly new usable weapons and armors are going to be =O

Thirdly, and most importantly, as hadn has stated, is the social hub aspect of the game. Lots of great people i have met on here, and very much enjoy chatting with. Sure i could get them on FB, Skype, Instant MEssanger, Email, or whatever. But why would i do that, SK is such a cuter and funner form of chat than any of those.

B)
Whatever those three things are, i learned them so long ago i cannot remember. What i can remember, and is a more pleasant memory, was learning the ins and outs of FSC for the first time!!!!!! It was sooo epic. Heron carrying me through it, each room a new and untamable challenge. (my comp couldn't handle it tho, i'd lag out at the most inopportune times). Taking advantage of all the glitches. Breaking walls before the party button, getting in position for trojan spawns, etc.. Which almost makes me sad. Since i have played it sooo many times that i now refuse to play it again. it is not only not fun, it is the antithesis of fun.

C)
I did for a long time, well....i guess while i enjoyed it, it wasn't a grind at all. But now, i play maybe one run a week, only when it sounds like fun. Anytime it sounds like a grind, i don't play. Collecting things, searching the AH, and chatting is never a grind for me. So 99% of the time i am on, thats what i am doing.

nothing left to heat!!!!! impossible.

I won't play unless i am heating something. Heck, heat is half the payout of clockworks.
