I'm an old player too!
I might not be famous, but I'm a pretty old player. Back when I joined, the rate per 100 CE was 4,000 crowns.
Imagine my shock yesterday when I logged in for the first time in at least a year and the prices were in the millions. @.@

True, everyone except my brother eventually comes back to see how much it changed. (I came back after 10 months of not playing, now I'm still loving the game trying to get every piece of equipment)
In regards to my brother...lets just say he plays TF2 now... (I might ask him for his CE)

Yeah most well-known players have left this game either because it got boring with the lack of content updates, or simply they're upset at OOO for what they have done for something.

There are no "famous players" in SK, there are some notorious ones which made some interesting contributions to community (the spiral spy guy, etc), and some notoriously annoying ones that rambled on the forums so much everyone knew them because they wanted them to shut up.
As for reason why people leave, it's mostly lack of content, or that when new content is added it's behind a silly paywall.

i remember a guy who quit a very long time ago back when i was in KM his name is Zikey. he was the best geared player and also the most skilled at the time (back when there was no pvp and less ego). he had very good uvs on his items even before punch.
and when pvp came out sciasz and chromiax were my favourite players that was before i met exiled
i guess they all quit cause got bored of the game zikey told me he was going to log on when they release new content but he didnt at all and i dont know why sciasz and chromiax quit.

~_~ I'm a REALLY old player as soon as the game started i was playing.
I'm currently on hiatus from SK because in all honesty, I actually have gotten bored with the lack of content.
You could say I left, but not really. Also until interesting things comes along, Borderlands 2 :D.
Haven't played in like a month or 2... also school lol.
