okay now..another usual day in haven
i was in front of AH searching for cheap kilowatt pulsar recipe, since the only one in AH was 22kcr,and i had only 9kcr
and some really clever player comes and offers me a trade i ask him how much for recipe, and then...he says i can sell you polaris... <.< really
(i was not interested but i asked anyway),he asked me how much i have ce and cr,i said 9kcr and 0ce
he continued with talk how he needs to unbind it,avoiding to talk about kilowatt recipe price,...it was annoying but he said he would give me polaris for 100ce,he just needs to unbind it...it was sooooo suspiciously, but he told me he doesnt need his stuff and that he is quitting the game
and i was so naive and foolish to agree,so i spent 8800cr on 100ce and gave him those 100ce...then he just whoosh dissapeared
so im not crying,i will earn those 8800cr back anyway,i just got sooo borred being fooled by such stupid and obvious scam http://myyogicjourney.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/bored20baby.jpg
so if there is any...well lets say "experienced" players who are scammed before,by various other methods tell me...
and how to recognise them, warn other players and avoid those greedy evil scammers
the popular scam i know is....
"hi can i be your friend?"
"sure just give me 100ce if you want to be friend with me" <<<<- this is mostly targeting newbies

BTW that knights name was (name removed),if you see him avoid him pls and dont be fooled like me,and i hoped i didnt post this topic in wrong place

there so annoying....
had one who said he knew hacks and would sell me secrets for 500ce. LOL. how stupid he was to ask such a foolish offer.
i just make fun of them and insult them and then bash 'em in Zone talk. theres always a few who help me out with the bashing.
but, just to make clear....
its really annoying.
*thnks the GMs for the ignore button.

"Anyone stupid enough to fall for it deserves to lose what we took from them."

That was the first "how to scam" advice I received several years ago in a completely different game with completely different rules allowing players to annoy and hate each other all they wanted until it grew to affect a large group of people, in which case probably nothing would happen anyway.

I am not condoning scamming or claiming my past gaming experience is without scratches, but the players who usually fall prey to scamming are too young or gullible to be playing the game to begin with.

Uh,

I know u are mad bro, but it is against the rules to call out specific names.

You should edit his name out of your post, then click on the blue support link at the top right of the screen. There will be another link called 'Contact Support'. This is where you can put the person's name along with your message to a GM.

Honestly, more people get scammed than you'd think and no, they do not all fall into some cookie cutter mold of being slow and deserving it. We all want something if we play this game long enough. There will always be weak willed and bad people who will take advantage of that.

Hi! Actually, the best thing

Hi!

Actually, the best thing to do if you've been scammed is to submit a complaint against the scammer as soon as possible (immediately is most helpful). You can do that by typing /complain Name. So, if I'd scammed you, you'd want to type /complain Hyperion. Complaints include unalterable serverside logs which are very helpful to GMs when we're investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and support requests don't. Support requests and e-mails are great ways to ask questions, but not so great for reporting rulebreaking.

i just HAVE to ask.

can a GM ban someone with a ban stick?
like a permanent kill! >:)
I would love to be in Haven, watch someone get scammed, then Hyperion comes to the rescue, casually pulls out his Banstick and BAM! M-M-M-M-Monster Kill! (*TDP4 reference)

Hyperion: its helps if i saw

Hyperion: its helps if i saw someone scamming another player and i send the report? because today i was in the bazaar when a player scammed a new player in the game, since the scammed player dont know how to send the report even if i told him how. i send the report in his place instead. well i send it with my Alt.. since i only use this account for the forum.. but the point its: its help if someone who dont know how to send a report its helped by someone who already know how to send a complain?

"So, if I'd scammed you,

"So, if I'd scammed you, you'd want to type /complain Hyperion."

LOL I loved this example. Laughing so hard. Ahhaha.

Some clever scams. ALSO KARMA WILL STRIKE

Seriously.

Scam 1: Doubling your stuff. They will ask you to give your stuff to them. Then they will run.
Scam 2: Cheap price for a powerful weapon. NEVER ACCEPT THEIR DEALS
Scam 3: Newbs asking for money and get friended
Scam 4: Good freinds becoming bad friends by begging for crowns. I've got scammed with this method and nobody has responded. He said he would give me the mask, but he lied. I do not mention names though.

He said if I gave him 7k crowns, he would give me a mask. He did not. He begged for 15k and he said "Dude im ur best friend"
He acted like a noob and acted under aged. I suspected that because of his grammar. I asked "How old are you?" He said "im 20. i just dunt feel liek tying good". Of course I did not believe me. Then he requests for help and said "Dude i need help plzzz! ill pay u". I went to help and he said "srry dud i ran out next tiem thx bai!" He was a noob and I was very annoyed. I then made no choice, but raged badly. I was very mad that he scammed me. Then at the end he said "Wut? I nevr owed u a mask and im poor plz gimme crowns and ill craft. plz!"

There was another time where he asked me to do a IMF run with him. He said "Im doin switches plzzzz i nevr scamed u u thinked it wuz real duh scam i nevr owed u u gave me 7k free and said i didnt hav to owe you anything". So while he was doing the switch, I unfriended him. He scammed me badly and I didn't like it. Then when we were finished, he bragged about it and he said "U owe me crowns dud u promised if i did gud u gimme". So then I made a trick to him.

"Ok, you want crowns? Come to the elevator and we will meet somewhere in Haven." He went to the elevator and he never saw me or I never saw him EVER. I got rid of him for my rest of my Spiral knights life.

Also, one moral. You try to do something bad, you will get bad karma. That's why I stay mature

Bottom line?

Never, but NEVER, confirm a trade unless you can see everything you want to receive in the other player's trade window. The trade system is a wonderful thing, and it's set up this way for a reason: to help people avoid being scammed by requiring both parties to confirm the trade. There's a piece of advice Valve includes in the trading dialog for Team Fortress 2, and it applies equally in SK: avoid trades that can't be completed in a single session, because odds are good that you're going to get screwed over.
