I started SK tonight and it looks like SK was just ninja-patched to use Steam's internal content management system (it asked me to convert SK's files for the new CMS). Does this mean that updates will come directly through Steam now? That's pretty cool :-D .

Can we dream that the Steam version will also finally be patched to use the system's Java VM (not the one in Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights\java_vm) after all this time?

And that must be why...

You can no longer run two instances of Spiral Knights through steam in order to trade with yourself, or whatever you might want to do.

This makes me sad, as I'm gonna be spending a lot mailing junk back and forth to an alt...

(Though I am excited for the possibility of patching through steam automatically.)

If you know how to use the mklink command on recent versions of Windows having your Steam SK use your system Java is pretty easy. ;)

Don't you mean the 'ln' command, Dogrock?

Or are you on Windows? ln is the link command on Linux. It's been around for ages now. I'm not sure how it would help you run more than one instance....unless....

I said Windows in my post... mklink is the equivalent command to ln in Linux.

I've never bothered running multiple instances via Steam (my account isn't Steam linked), so I've got no idea if that would help you do so. No idea why you just wouldn't use an ordinary install which doesn't have any Steam hiccups for self-trading.

I might just install the non-steam client as well and run them that way if I get tired of mailing myself mats. :P

It's not a huge inconvenience, but it's a bit ironic because I just upgraded my computer this week so it handles two instances well finally.
