The classic in ultimate defence armor in lockdown has allways been a shock max set, rendering the VT useless. But more and more these days iv been seeing people using the Stagger Storm. So: in your opinion, should people go for Shock max or Stun max?

Personally, Shock would take higher precedence due to the propensity of people to spam Polaris. Also, you do get the occasional Voltedge user as well as Voltaic Tempest bombers who try to render a point uncappable. In contrast, the main source of Stun in LD is Stagger Storm, which I have found to be less common. (Callahan's Stun effect isn't the most relevant part of the gun, since most use it for the knockdown ability, and Sudaruska is extremely rare.)

Also, Shock is more generally useful, since it's a fairly dangerous status in PvE as well, whereas Stun... not so much.

Double Shock max wouldn't

Double Shock max wouldn't give you immunity to Polaris shock or Voltedge. It'll only go as far as immunity to minor Shock.

Edit: My bad, mistyped.

Stagger Storm is the backup weapon for when Voltaic Tempest fails. Stun resist without shock will just get you volted.

False. Max shock on both

False. Max shock on both items means you can run straight through VT. Polaris will shock you rarely but thats ok.

Re: non-bomb shock

I'll take "being shocked less often/for shorter" if I can't get "never get shocked at all". :P

like derpules said......

...... if you had to choose between not getting hit and getting lots of Def because you know you'l get hit, i'd go for not getting hit.

Well, having increased Shock resistance still decreases the chances of getting shocked, as well as reducing the time spent being shocked and the damage taken. So even if that much resistance doesn't remove the possibility entirely, the resistance would still be pretty durn useful. :B

as i said before (this is

as i said before (this is tried and tested), you will get shocked occasionally by polaris/Storm driver, but the VT you can run around in all you want if you have shock max on both armor pieces.

What Orbwanter said

Similarily, Voltaic Tempest is only used because everyone is already derping around with freeze max. Otherwise you'd all be facing the wrath of Shivermist.

I like the idea of making

I like the idea of making Minor status immunity require Max-Max plus a smidgen, like the poison/fire immunity in Compound 42. This would bring more balance to the game, as you'd see a larger variety of non-strikers using bombs as a strategic deterrent. You would also see a lot more meta-gaming, as loadout switching would become more important, and teams could work together to counter enemy bombers via complementary immunities. Immunity to status should require a tradeoff, such as a more defensive armor or trinket slot. Right now, all it requires is deep pockets for a max/high shock and stun Skolver set.

I would also be in favor of nerfing Polaris by reducing its status to Good chance of Minor Shock under these conditions, which would allow those inclined to gear for immunity. The gun is already ridiculously strong, so adding Good chance of Moderate Shock is just over the top.

Hnnng... but then the gap between the rich and poor in LD would become even wider as people can roll for complete impunity, running through Polaris and Voltaic Tempest.
A better option would probably be to reduce the chance of shock to Fair, which is the same chance as the ISB line has to inflict the status. Also, reducing the damage somewhat; it's an elemental-type gun with a status, so the reduction should be in line with the pure damage difference between the status drivers and Nova Driver (slightly under one bar on their descriptions; 151-169 as opposed to 198-220 for Hail and Nova, per normal shot, hitting once).
