So I was wondering what you guys think is the best gun for Lockdown tier 3. Im not interested in the polaris so any comments regarding it will be ignored.

So, I see the Storm Driver being used alot mainly because of the charge and also the shock it can deal from normal shots too, but it only has 2 shots in a clip. The valliacne i have seen being used too, the damage is dreadful but the shots are physically big so you can hit your target esier. It also has 3 shots in a clip and a relativly fast reload which is obviously very useful
Lastly the antigua lines, i personally would never use one due to my terrible shot in the heat of a 1v1 striker fight but it sure has been used effectivly against me.

Apparently, when combined with the mighty deathmark, the Valiance is a force to be reckoned with. Mind, if you get close enough to DM, you may as well use a sword - probably a toothpick - so the Valiance isn't too good for DPS.
Storm Driver deals Shock, but the secret which some high-end gunners use is that a spasming shocked player has their invinciframes removed. This means that as many shots as you can get in spasms will ALL do damage.
Antigua lines don't have much DPS, don't have a status, and take a long time to kill - also, due to invinciframes, only 1 in 3 shots will land, so the DPS on them is worse than that of the Valiance.

All in all, it seems best to use the Storm/Nova/Umbra drivers.

Yes.

Overall...
Storm driver is the best:
- Shock interrupts and disables their movement for around 1-2 seconds all while removing invincibility frames. This means that not only you, but your teammates around you can all deal damage at the same time --> Quick death to your target. For this reason, it's great 1v1 but even better when you've outnumbered your opponents. Shock aside, it has medium bullet speed/range, making it about average. The main reason it's really awesome is because if it shocks, everything that makes alchemers great (double ricochets, OHKO charge) becomes available to you.

Valiance is the next best:
- If you're striker, Valiance's 3 shots/quick bullets/knockback are enough to disrupt enemy strikers, making it decent overall.
- If you're recon, yes, deathmark makes it amazing. If you do get a deathmark, it is true that swords deal more damage, but keep in mind that Recon's weakness is its mobility, so if you deathmark a striker and it starts to move away, you aren't getting any hits in at all. If you use a gun, you can get at least 1-2 in. As far as deathmark tricks, you can do something along the lines of Cloak+Warning --> 1-2 shots --> Cloak+Deathmark --> spam all while being mobile.

Also, it (along with catalyzer and antigua lines) have some of the longest ranged shots, so it can work as a counter weapon to polaris kids.

For utility:
Hail Driver is my favorite utility gun:
- Freeze lets you do evil things (Freeze --> Gran Faust charge? It can happen!). Super nice if you have decent aim but aren't wearing a gunner set.
It's also really handy when you're outnumbered by your opponents, since the medium Freeze can buy you some breathing room from at least one person. For some reason, I find myself capping alone more often, so it's really useful for me. I've been meaning to do a Freeze --> Vortex --> Some other charge as a taunt-kill for a while, but I keep forgetting to do Vortex lol.

Umbra/Nova Driver counter piercing defense kids, but Umbra Driver is more special in that it counters Vog/elemental suits (important, considering all the other drivers are elemental). That's all I can really say about it lol. If you have good aim, their damage is worthwhile, as long as you make sure to counter your target's defense.

Depends what you mean by "best".

If you're after damage, then the drivers really do out-dps the polaris by..a long shot. The antiguas are also pretty good at getting off a lot of damage as they move fast and have a high clip, but they're not at all easy to use. They're best for hitting cloaked recons or trying to land a quick hit or two on a boosting striker. The drivers are what you should really aim to kill with.

But if you want area denial, utility, shock-spread etc then...well, get over it; polaris dominates for that purpose. Simply no other gun even remotely compares to how effective polaris is at denying areas and creating movement chaos.

I just got into playing LD

I just got into playing LD but have been a long time player otherwise.

The drivers stand out right away as the most solid with a charge that *can* be used, decent range, and decent projectile velocity (not faster then a speeding striker though unless charged I believe)

Someone had mentioned Biohazard in LD and I had kinda made advice against it in the thread at the time. Now Bio I like to use over trollaris because if Im not mistaken Catalyzers have longest reach in game bar none. It also bears mentioning that Biohazard shots are very very more subtle in a firefight and I think its advantage lies in that people dont see them till too late or underestimate how far the shot will go and hook back too soon.

Take it with a grain though because Im still bush league at best in LD

Invinci frames well make you invincible or *ghost* you for a fraction of a seccond so when you recieve damage three people or even 2 for that matter cant hit anyone all at once. The implications with the AP/Sent lines here are that the damage of the clip is broken into 6 different amounts or "shots" whereas the total alooted damage for alchys and smaller clip guns is way higher per-hit. SOOOOO in theory you could shoot and NOT kill someone with AP, make them invincible when someone else was about to deliver a more proper blow and possibly get you both gibbed.

Edit- It was Serian I heard of its usefulness from, and the gun is snappy very little delay. 3 round clip is a huge bonus too as you can fire cover in 2 directions and keep one in the chamber.

A better way to describe

A better way to describe invinci frames would be with the autoguns; the bullets fire so fast that the first bullet triggers the invinc for the half second, while 3/4 of the other bullets hit within the invinci, nullifying most of the damage of the gun. Purely because the bullets all hit too fast. Drivers force you to wait between shots which allows time fr the invinci frame to end before the next bullet is likely to hit.

antigua could apply as in your scenario, but it is posesible to simply hold back your shots to an appropriate time, wheras the autoguns fire within the frames whether you like it or not, effectively wasting the clip.

Brady, thats a better way to make the concept clear. I would like to underline that the autogun line is not a pvp line, and the AP/sent line is usefull at best for catching a fleeing opponent.

AP/Sent line with +asi fully swapped with +dmg, total capacity of clip to shot damage ratio in and of its-self is still sub-par coupled with the fact that kit resources dont wait for outcomes. TLDR dont expect to be able to take another decent player out in a hail of bullets with these.

Any of the rapid fire lines should do you well, they are regarded as the most powerful and best gun for LD (Pulsar is cheap and stupid, needs to be nerfed) I would probably go with an Antigua line if not rapid fire, its a highly underestimated gun for LD

Sentenza/AP are my fav guns to use, though i don't use them the most. I do think they're the best, but that's just me.
