I wanted to talk about something, some intelligent and worthwhile, but my brain can't seem to come up with anything. Anywho, Dark Harvest Festival is coming soon, can't wait to see what happens. I wonder if the Punkin King will return, or will there be additional or a new token monster that'll roam the Clockworks? Always consider the possible, and when there is no more possibilities left, you have done a good job. So possibilities are containing, but not limited to: New (Additional) Monster, New Tokens, New Masks. Also there is a great possibility, something is also brewing in the update section. But I'm not sure what, But I do have some possible clues.

Energy prices are high today. I just bought a bunch of energy via the market, profitability is way down in the market, averaging 20-40 crowns per trade. Not very profitable mind you, also seems like we are reaching our highest point of energy sales. It's going to level out and stay high til something comes and fixes it.

Well enough rambling from me. Carry on.

Here's something to think about. Does a set of all sets with an even number of elements contain its self?

And so Daarke returns from quitting

I can't wait for Dark Harvest either, though I'd consider the possibility that they're just brining it back as it was before. They have a lot of other stuff to worry about, so I don't think they'll take time out of more important things to add a whole bunch of new code just for an annual holiday.

Best bet on that would be a few reskins maybe. Gotta wait out the days till'

ummm...

@Oatmonster: Easy answer -- The set of all sets with an even number of elements contains an infinite number of sets. Infinity is an abstract concept it is neither even or odd, therefore the universal set would NOT contain itself (i.e. it is only contained within itself if it can be shown to contain an even number of elements).

Less easy answer -- Another possibility is that infinity itself is not a static value -- every time you find infinity it's value changes (because you can add 1 to it) and a new infinity is born. This continues until the end of time. In this case, the value of infinity itself is a function of time and at some points in time it will be odd (i.e. not included in the set of all sets that are even) and sometimes it will be even (in which case at that point in time it *will*).

Answer that may lead to insanity -- Further still. if the latter is true, it may only be true if there is some "thing" able to carry out the +1 operation on the current value of infinity. This could be for example a conscious entity or even computer. This is because numbers don't really exist outside of consciousness or perception - especially true for infinity. Therefore, should such a time come when there is no one and no thing able to discover new infinities and if that happens before the end of time (i.e. let's for arguments sake, say all beings able to count died out and before that happened they switched off all the computers) then the answer to the question depends on the end state of infinity at the moment the death occurs and at which point infinity becomes a static value.

Open questions:
>Does time exist once all the biological/non-biological "thinkers" die?
>Does infinity exist at this point?

Myrtle! :D Nice job on that

Myrtle! :D

Nice job on that answer btw.

Anyways, I think that time and space and life itself is percieved by us as human beings, and any concept that we cannot fully complete without ending at an answer that can potentially leave another question, for example philosophy, then infinity is our way of identifying and labelling that concept of us not being able to understand all concepts.

If that is true, then really we are stuck in some sort of loop, which infinity can also be shown as. As infinity increases, negative infinity also decreases. Like a donut, the infinity can increas infinitly by rotating towards the center of the hole in the donut, and at the same time infinity goes negative and meets itelf creating a loop or ring.

Either way, we can always perceive the endless ideas because of imagination, which could arguably be infinite itself. So technically as you ponted out, infinity can and cannot exist at the exact same time.

Really it all comes down to your personal preference and perception of the world around you. If you believe that a set of all sets of even number of elements can contain itself, then that is your perception of the idea. If you do not believe it is so, that is also your perception. If you consider all possibilities, which if what we have discussed is true, then it is technically possible and impossible, then it still is only your perception.

Is the glass half full, or half empty? Is it 100% full of matter that floats in and around it an constant rates, such as oxygen, water, and other atmospheric substances, or do you perceive water to only fill it?

Infinity. Just a concept that we cannot understand fully in our existence as of this point and time.

And really that is just my perception of the matter.

@infinite

Here is a nice infinite conundrum: (proposed by Patrick Rothmuss in "the name of the wind trilogy)---at least where i got it from :)

A hotdog has a finite length. However, theoretically you could slice it into an infinite amount of pieces. And then when you put those pieces back together you'd have a hotdog of infinite length!!!! Did i blow your mind????

P.S. do not tell me you cannot slice it into infinite parts. As time goes on, we find smaller and smaller fractions of matter. The molecule. THe atom. The proton/neutron/electron. The quarks. And on it goes.

hmmmm....

I think we can agree that there are two black and white answers to your question, depending on one's own personal beliefs.

"Open questions:
>Does time exist once all the biological/non-biological "thinkers" die?
>Does infinity exist at this point?"

If you are agnostic, and think in mathematical terms, then infinity is a real thing, and it exists even in the absence of all things, living, breathing, thinking, inanimate or otherwise. Infinity exists across all dimensions, known and unknown. [these great mathematicians almost always go mad. go figure. chaos theory is a B****]

If you are highly religious (the kind of folks who argue the world is only 10,000 yrs old), then infinity only exists so long as there is life to observe its presence, and not even then really. Because if there are an infinite number of things, then it would be impossible to know everything. These types would argue that god knows everything. And if god knows everything, then there cannot therefor be an infinite number of things.

Of course, as black and white as this is, there are an infinite number of grays between those two extremes :P go figure.
