So I mostly PUG and have only faced him once and I think and got destroyed. I am wondering about tactics. From what I understand the idea is to zerg him while keeping him poisoned. Do you try to deal with the slimes that surround him? I was also wondering if a rock salt bomb would be a good idea. I am currently in 3* gear - is he possible to solo at this point or do I need all 4*?

Ok
It seems like I saw all of those slimes and thought I had to deal with them, which was my problem. I figured I wouldn't survive very well in a pack of slimes but I guess you just have to go for the jelly. I will try those suggestions.

Shield bouncing is the key to
Shield bouncing is the key to not getting blown up by the thousands of jello cubes. I solo Royal Jelly pretty often, and it's literally just:
Run in, scatter jellies, move up to Royal Jelly
Curse Vial, Fire Vial, Poison Vial(in this order)
begin meleeing, shield bounce encroaching jellies away
run west when he turns pink, try to curse him before it if it wears off; keep poison on him at all times
run back in, continue to melee until he does the wiggle of of defeat.

My First Encounter
My first encounter with the guy was pretty interesting, but now that ive heard of these good tactics ill take them into consideration for my next round up that Royal Blob!!:P Thanks for the advice guys.
1) Stay on the west side of the map. He always twirls east first when he goes pink, so this solves a lot of problems.
2) All other Slimes are infinite. Disregard them unless he is pink; they're a waste of time.
3) Keep Poison on him whenever possible, and Curse too if you can. It makes the fight a lot easier.
4) Block every one of his attacks. He hurts far more than everything else in the fight.
5) Other than the above, just damage as fast as you can. He'll die before you will, especially if you have pills and don't screw up too many blocks.
I've never tried soloing him, but I usually get by fine in PUGs with just a Tempered Calibur, Poison Vials, Pills and good blocking.
