Since Guild Wars 2 has pretty much consumed my free time, I don't play Spiral Knights anymore, and my crowns and accessories are starting to rot. So I've decided to hold a contest with them, based around the one shining gem in my Spiral Knights career:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnNd04tGZqI
That's right. Whoever can get the fastest time soloing the Roarmulus Twins with nothing but an Ash of Agni equipped, using it for both switching AND DPS, wins one million crowns. Second place wins a Sniped Stranger Hat, and third place gets a commemorative Azure Guardian Crest. That video proves that it IS possible, but the video's very sloppy, and I know there are people out there who can get the job done much faster than I. And I'd like to see just how much time such people could trim off that fight.
RULES (check Edit section for updated rules):
1. Only one person is allowed in the fight. Any more would change the battle mechanics too much, and I feel it'd give an unfair advantage.
2. Any equipment is fine, as long as a five-star Ash of Agni is used as the main weapon for the fight, and no other weapons are equipped. Please show a segment at the beginning of the fight of inspecting your character and going over your equipment so that myself and others can see what you were using. Make sure that the text is at least legible, if it isn't, then list it in your entry post and still make a segment going over it in the video to see that your items could fit your description.
3. I am allowing trinkets for this, to help level the playing field against max-UV people.
4. No vials other than pills and remedy are to be used, no deaths, clean fight, etc.
5. The deadline will be a month from now, on November 15th. I'm not a big stickler for due dates, so if you have something that's really special and you submit it a day late, that's fine. Two days is pushing it though.
SUMBISSION FORM:
1. Your in-game name that I can mail prizes to.
2. Link to the video you're submitting.
3. Time in raw seconds of how long the fight took, from the moment the floor becomes available for block destruction to the start of the Twins' death animation. This is to make it easier for me to sort out prospective winners, and I find raw seconds to be easier to manipulate than minutes:seconds, as I WILL watch and time all videos that have the potential to win to double-check fight times and make sure no rules were broken, so rounding down your time won't help you there. And rounding up, why would you do a silly thing like that?
4. Any comments you'd like to make about your performance (What you liked, what you thought you did poorly, what you weren't expecting, list of equipment, can I have 300 crowns, etc.)
Questions and comments are welcome below. Spread the word! I'm not very active on the forums and college is consuming my life, so I probably won't respond much and I might be slow with confirming a winner and getting rewards out, but I am serious about this. If a few weeks pass after the deadline and I haven't said anything, feel free to leave me angry profile messages at http://steamcommunity.com/id/linkalee/ and I will try to get my act together and get to judging entries. Or just throw them to my assistant, either way.
Good luck, stay awesome, and long live Churro Dynasty, the best guild ever. Even though it died a long time ago, it still lives on in my, spleen, why not.
EDIT:
A secondary weapon is allowed for running the levels, but it should not appear in the boss fight save for the equipment inspection screen.
The prize for third place is now 100k crowns.
2-4* bombs of the Ash of Agni line are allowed. The fastest time with such a bomb will earn the Azure Guardian Crest as well as any other prizes earned normally, even if the entry doesn't place.
Only the Ash of Agni line of bombs is allowed, but any modifications by gear, trinkets, and UV's are also allowed.
The contest has been extended until December 25, 2012. Provided the world doesn't end beforehand.
Would it be possible to do this with an alternative haze bomb?
Ex: Stagger Storm, Freezing Vaporizer, Plasma Capacitor, Toxic Vaporizer mkII.
Interesting nevertheless.
