So as the Forum title says, what order should/do you veteran knights craft in?
E.G. Weapon 1, Armor, Shield, Weapon 2
I just wanted some insight as to what's the general trend for this. Thanks
Order of Crafting
Weapons and armour are generally best crafted first. However, certain pieces of equipment get special bonuses from being upgraded to 5*; for example, the Divine Avenger gets an extra two projectiles added to its charge on top of the standard increase to damage that all weapons get when upgraded from 4* to 5*. Skolver gets an extra +1 sword damage bonus on top of the original bonus when upgraded from Ash Tail (from Low to Med), as does the Barbarous Thorn Shield.
Some items will have their bonuses changed completely; Shadowsun gets changed to normal/shadow defence, with poison resist and a +2 damage bonus for handguns, where its predecessor got piercing defence and ASI +1 for handguns. Divine Veil gets specialist elemental/shadow defence, with resistance to curse, shock and fire as well as a +2 damage bonus vs. fiends, where the Miracle Hood only had shock and fire resist on top of its normal/elemental defence. The Crest of Almire gets shock and fire resist slapped on top of its normal/shadow defence from the Blackened Crest.
I would generally recommend upgrading whatever gets the best bonuses first, if you're not going straight into stratum 6 after upgrading. Generally these are weapons and armours rather than shields; the reason I'm not saying upgrade weapons specifically is because the damage is scaled to tier. If you upgraded a Gigawatt Pulsar to Polaris, the only difference at any level above or at stratum 5 would be a larger flash when an expanded bullet exploded. However, if you upgraded Ash Tail into Skolver, you would still have the same defence at stratum 5 or above, but you would also get the extra sword damage bonus.
Also, I would not recommend upgrading a Faust into Gran Faust if you use it primarily for the charge.
Otherwise, how can you fight through the clockworks with no powerful weapons? The weapons will help you faster
Oh yeah, one point which may or may not be obvious; make sure you have at least basic stuff up to 4* before you decide to go the whole hog. The difference between 3* damage and 4* damage is pretty big, but I suspect you may know this already.
@exBenightz: Depends what weapons we're talking about here, really. Some of them don't get much of a boost when upgraded to 5*, other than damage increase. Ironically enough, the Brandish line is in this category, since all you get (other than more damage in stratum 6) is an extra explosion at the end of the charge.
Generally it's best to get your weapon upgraded first. The standard build for the game encourages offensive play, so more damage = faster progress. Armour next, as that can have pretty big jumps in defence (but not enough to merit upgrading first) to satisfy you until you get it 5*, which is when the juicy bonuses tend to come out. Shields are typically always last as the bonuses are often marginal. Many gunners can successfully run the hardest missions with a wetpaper 3* Swifty, so that shows that some practice/skill/experience can nullify a shields urgency, whereas armour can affect damage bonuses, resistances, asi etc (and otherwise be very worth upgrading).
Basically, get your primary weapons as good as you can, then think about armour to suit your class.
