A mob shoots something at you, or hits you really hard, Your screen goes blank... You only see your health and your map at the top right.. There is a countdown with the time remaining of how much longer you remain blind.

Perhaps a better effect would
Perhaps a better effect would be to severely limit visibility, such as leaving you with a small circle of visible area immediately around your character. This allows you to continue to fight, albeit at a disadvantage.
If you're totally blind the logical act is to hold the shield button and just move away from where you last saw foes. That seems more annoying than anything.

Status effects should be anoying.. and I love the idea :D
But instead of having the screen go completely black for the whole durating of the time.
Why not have it go black, and the fade back to full visual at the speed of the time..
and then I show up at your house and hit you in the face for this suggestion.
