I have been playing Spiral Knights for nearly 6 months with java 6 (Apple provides their own java) on an iMac desktop. That was until two weeks ago when Apple has decided to remove/disable java 6, forcing all Mac users to rely on java 7.

After installing Oracle's java 7 (1.7.0_09) on my iMac OS X 10.7.5, Spiral Knights refuses to launch in Safari browser.

I went to other gaming websites that require java to run, and they work fine. Therefore, I know java isn't the problem, at least with other games.

I access Spiral Knights thru Kongregate. When I click on PLAY NOW button, the game checks for the latest patch, and upon ensuring that I have the latest patch installed, it then requests the user for a permission to launch the game something along the line of :

This applet was signed by "Three Rings Design, Inc.," and authenticated by ... blah blah blah. Do you trust this certificate?

Then I am supposed to click on Trust/Accept. But I no longer see such window appear.

Thinking perhaps Safari's pop-up blocker was the culprit, I disabled it and tried launching the game again. Again, no luck.

Not to give up so easily, I tried accessing Spiral Knights thru http://www.spiralknights.com rather than Kongregate. Same symptoms; still unable to launch the game.

Then I deleted everything I had under ~/Library/Application Support/spiral/ and reinstalled the game files. Again, the game won't launch.

So ... I am a loss. It seems I can't access the game anymore.

Any ideas? I am open to suggestions...

p.s. I know I am not the only Mac user in the game. So surely, I can't be the only one with this problem.

Still Unresolved

OOO, the vast majority of Mac users are unable to access the game following the latest update. Kinda makes it difficult for them to spend money on your Halloween promo if they can't launch the game in the first place.

Platform: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
Browser: Safari version 6.0.1 (7536.26.14)
Java: Java 7 (1.7.0_09) by Oracle

Problem: Spiral Knights refuses to launch thru Kongregate nor spiralknights.com
Report Date: Sunday, Oct. 21th, 2012
Current Status: Still unresolved. No response from Spiral Knights Support Team.

What's Been Done to Attempt to Resolve the Problem:
I deleted the game files under ~/Library/Application Support/spiral/ and reinstalled to no effect. Still refuses to launch.
Tried to access the game from spiralknights.com to same effect; the game refuses to launch.

There are many other Mac users, using java 7, who are unable to launch the game.

...

I am one of those other Mac users, as Spiral Knights doesn't launch for me anymore.

edit: If you want to play SK, you can always revert back to the old java.

I also have an iMac. Spiral

I also have an iMac. Spiral Knights doesn't launch from Oracle's Java 7. It, too, took me a while to figure out the culprit was Java 7. Strangely enough, other java-based games ran just fine on Oracle's Java 7 on the same desktop. Spiral Knights is the only odd ball that refuses to run on the latest version of Java for Mac.

Reverting to Java 6 allowed me to launch Spiral Knights once again. However, the game appears to be increasingly laggy. Not just any lags but the rubber banding type. You know, the kind of lag that bounces you around all over the map as if you are stuck to an invisible spring, resulting in your character being violently shoved (or zig zag) in any direction, often into harm's way such as fire/spike traps, thrown right in front of a attacking trojan.

So to summarize:

1. The latest, and supposedly the more 'efficient', Java 7 refuses to launch Spiral Knights while other java-based games run fine.

2. The old and outdated Java 6 will allow Spiral Knights to launch on my iMac. But the game appears to be very laggy.

3. If Java 7 on iMacs could launch Spiral Knights, would it be relatively or practically lag-free? Hell if I know.

4. Which version of Java are other Mac users using to play SK? Are there any Mac users out there playing SK on Java 7?? If so, don't be shy. Speak up!
