I'm wondering where I can find more info on Lockdown.
And yes, I've read this
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Lockdown

I tried two games but I dunno. I'm in T2 but I would get killed in two shots. I took the giant shield, as someone elsewhere suggested new players do that, and eventually figured out what the heck I was doing.

Someone kept saying "I hate n00bs who dont cap" but I don't know what a cap is. So info like that would be good.

Capture the flag.

Well I don't know if you have noticed but lockdown is just like capture the flag. A capture point is those big circles that you stand on and have a number on them. There's a map in the right top corner were you can find those numbers that lead you to a capture point. To "cap" one capture point you just simply stand on it and wait for it to turn your team color. And to get dmg is just to kill the other team with your weapon.

IC Don't these points need to

IC

Don't these points need to be defended as well? Especially by the giant-shield-guy?

Technically they need to be

Technically they need to be defended, but it's generally more worthwhile to cap more points or at least decap the enemy colour, as score is awarded exponentially for holding more points, meaning that defending one point ultimately won't pay out as well. Even if they take it back immediately from you, you still get teh score from teh seconds it took them to decap it. The Guardian (shield class) is probably one of the better classes to defend CPs with if you choose to, but it's still easier with a team, as Guardians are currently pretty underpowered and can get eaten up by Strikers.

Clarification to the above.

Actually, the scoring system is quite the opposite of exponential. Each additional capture provides diminishing returns. A combination of neutralizing enemy points while preventing captures when you have map control is mathematically more beneficial than just going around capping. However there seems to be a fixation on a "cap or you're a damage [wheel]" philosophy amongst forumers that causes this point to be ignored.

Guess I did word it badly;

Guess I did word it badly; the score itself is not awarded to you exponentially, but your score will increase over the other teams exponentially. A perfectly tied match can very suddenly become 100 points apart just by one team allowing the other to hold too many points, even for a short time. It can build up very fast given the chance.

I agree though, there's more to the game than just what's recorded on the results table. As a bomber I find myself having to remind myself/others of the functions I provide that aren't listed on the results. My latest loadout though I've been worrying less about caps and purely just on running around neutralising enemy CPs, then making a run for it before anyone comes to kill me (leaving me alive longer to continue). Actually great fun for crippling their points and drives them mad because no one notices a CP has been lost until they see it change colour. :D

Will you post that message

Will you post that message about how capping is not the world in that pro-cap thread?

Alright, here is all the info I know on Lockdown (LD)

Hey,

Ignoring all the other comments posted I'm just going to answer the question.

Firstly, a "cap" is short for "capture" which in game means capturing a base (the large round circles on the ground). Capturing a base results in gaining points for your team whereas damage and kills only gain damage points for yourself. If you happen to win an LD (lockdown) match you will receive 280 crowns in which 200 will go towards another LD match and 80 will be your personal profit :). The reason you are getting killed in T2 LD is because of all the Twisted Snarble Barbs and Swift Flourishes. These weapons inflict piercing damage so I suggest taking in good armour like a Dusker Set. If you want to counter this and inflict damage of your own, simply craft one of the two above items and annoy others with them :P. Since in your question you were talking about being a Big Shield or a "Guardian" is not really a good ability in LD and I don't recommend it. Being a guardian ONLY and I repeat ONLY has one advantage, which isn't really an advantage if you have health trinkets.......and that is giving more health. This really sucks because even if you have a bit more health you are still gonna get killed by the Piercing Weapons and being a Guardian will literally be NO USE when the shield breaks. I highly recommend being a "Striker" which makes your knight faster so if you are using a fast piercing weapon it is much easier to inflict damage on enemies. If you do not like being a "Striker" go "Recon". "Recon" makes your knight invisible to enemies and if you are not so confident in doing damage, just like capping or don't have weapons that inflict damage and armour that stops damage this is the ability for you. Also if you are in a guild you can try GvG (Guild vs Guild LD) instead of being tired of Random Teams. If your team does good you might JUST make it onto the Leaderboards.

Hope I answered your question and more.
Have a great time in LD it is really fun :D.
