Okaysouh.

I'm wondering how large the download size is for installing SK. I see the 370 MB size via Steam but I know that doesn't include patches. See, I have a bandwidth limit (very long story) and uninstalled SK for personal reasons (again, long story.) Though some friends gifted me some stuff through Steam trade and me, being a derp, forgot stuff would be deleted if I don't log in and accept the mail with the items. So, if anyone would know what the download size is (basically, the download size after first launch after installation) or know a way to find out without actually downloading it, that'd be great. If I know the size, I might be able to see if it's small enough for me to download without causing problems with my bandwidth limit. 24 GB per month with three other people in the house using their fair share of internet isn't much. xD;

I have an odd situation. Living 40 miles out of town, living with my parents atm for health reasons and they literally had to make their own internet. x.x

Well, the SK folder on my computer comes to a billion bytes. So, we'll round up and call it 1GB.

Mine came to ~960MB, Sci. I can work up a rar file for you if you like, and see if that's smaller? I'm not sure how much smaller it'd be, though...

(the guild say hi, btw!)

e: I rar'd it and it went down to 837MB.

Greetings,

Right now a complete download of Spiral Knights from Steam (including patching to the most recent version) is in the ballpark of 410MB and will take up around 650MB of physical storage once installation is complete.

Patches vary and are difficult to pin down to an actual size. Though it's safe to say that it's uncommon to see a patch over 10MB for normal updating. Smaller patches concerned with bug fixes are traditionally below 5MB.

Thanks for the answer,

Thanks for the answer, Helios! I was always wondering and the program I use to track my data has a tendency to track network activity too, not just internet. 410 MB is quite big for a download unfortunately...though I've gone higher with just webpage loads in a day. :|

Thanks again!

Hai Vaguey, love on the guild for me! ^^ Looks like the regular download is a lot smaller, probably due to compressing files for the download. I'll try and give it a try soon...I hope.

Well

You could always ask some charitable soul to burn the installer to a cd and mail it to you or something.
Although, what's the bandwith use of playing an online game?

The bandwidth usage tends to

The bandwidth usage tends to vary from game to game and SK is actually a fairly low usage game so I can play it sometimes. Unlike TF2, my biggest bandwidth hog in existence. I uninstalled it due to personal reasons for the time being.

388GB?

That could be more than half of your whole computer's storage space!

actually its 388TB.
with a 1MBps connection (or a 8Mbps connection) it will take only the short time of 113013 hours, or over 4000 days.
