So apparently deliberately replacing letters in swear words so that they are no longer swear words is unacceptable in forums, but actually swearing is perfectly okay.
...I don't even
forget it.

If you see someone actually swearing, please report it. It's not that it's "perfectly okay" to swear, it's that we missed it. Try reading every thread in every forum section and you'll see how that could happen. ;)
How do you report someone on the forum?
I have contacted support by email though the support button in the upper right corner, but I don't know that that is the appropriate method.
Use /complain in game and include a link to the forum post - to get the direct link, click the post # in the top right corner.
The forum really needs its OWN reporting system. Why should I have to waste time and effort launching the game every time?
I am kind of at work so can't really launch the game. Wait I really shouldn't be on the forums either.......
woops, I suffer from Blarg-itis. (the unabilty to replace swears with common words successfully)
apologies all around.
dont worry, i will do my best, so little kiddies dont pick up on the vocab.
p.s.in RL i also suffer from Blarg-itis in the school environment. :/ and anywhere else
I have to log in to the game to report a forum post?
No offence intended, but I'm not launching the game to report a forum post. That's far far too much to ask, especially when not everyone can zip in and out, and many like myself need to run (and then close) a game booster. The entire process could take upwards of 5-10 minutes.
...personally, it would be more helpful if we could send a complaint on the forums rather than having to load up the game, particularly since some people use Android phones to access the forums whilst on the go. You can't exactly load SK on a phone at the moment...
Not to mention I got banned for almost swearing, although I will admit that some of my previous language had been less than stellar. It just seems ironic, I suppose.
Another problem is I can literally click on any thread with over 1 page and find at least 1 post that violates the rules (in reality it'll be closer to 2 or 3 per page...)
If I did report every post that broke the rules, I'd have to send one, on average, every 15 minutes.
edit
dunno. Just called "Game Booster"
To be clear, you don't have to be in-game to report a forum issue. You can use the web form here. I would love for the forum to have a big red Report button in the future, as that would definitely streamline the process. For now, please use the form. Thanks!
The developers are developers right?
So there job is to develop, am i correct?
So there job is to develope the website as well as the game. They spend way too much time making weapons do less damage while this is important to the community. (*i'm not saying i don't swear*) but a filter (like in game) will keep swearing away. Remember some players are young in age and their parents might not like swearing on these 'safe communities' as thought.
SO EVERYONE DO YOU AGREE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A FILTER ON THE FORUMS LIKE IN GAME!!!
That would look silly.
This is just an example, I'm not really trying to use this offensively:
So, terms like "Freak, frick, and fudge" also aren't acceptable to the forums, and FU(you know what it is) is also unacceptable. If we do censor curses, then words that look like f*** would pretty much give away the word. Also, I thought this audience was mature enough to not mind nor care about words like these.
Does that mean no one can call me a freak or eat fudge?
Now I can bathe in turkeys all I want while smashing my face in vanilla ice cream and no one can do anything to stop me. Actually, some hot fudge would be nice with thi-
Nope! Put it down!
God of BLT sandwiches? What are you doing here?
Bringing justice and greasy deliciousness everywhere!
Okay, you frea-
Nurr! No saying that either!
Solids. Then what am I allowed to use to insult you?
Oh, I know.
What? What are you doing over there?
I have...strawberries!
Hiss!
Yes! Your one true weakness! Red fruit! I also have, in my other hand, an apple!
You vile fiend!
Begone, you silly thing!
I shall be avenged!
Well, that was strange. Now, where did Eury hide that hot fu-
And then Luguiru was banned for taking the joke too far
Which was exactly what I was thinking. I thought this was a generally 13+ audience, so there shouldn't be THAT large of a problem (or am I being to lenient?).
Luguiru, your manner of speaking (typing?) never ceases to amuse me on these forums.
Please carry on with your random quirkiness, it's awesome.
/e vanishes in a puff of smoke due to the utter lack of subject matter relevant to the topic of the forum.
Well what do 13 year olds want to see and do? I mean, sure there are 13 year old boys who want to swear, but what about the 13 year old girls! Think about the 13 year old girls!! (but not too much cause that's just creepy)
At the end of the day while most 13 year olds might swear, the "official" stance of "official things" is that people do not swear until they are 18. Thus, we need to adapt to that.
The title of this thread gave me no clue as to what its content is. I thought "blarg" might refer to a type of blog or something related to that medium, rather than my most newly assimilated censoring substitute string. "Blarg! Just what we need, a blarg-brained reckless knockback-spammer!"
The whole "foul language" thing is just a big mean can of worms for me. The enshrining of special words for exclusive use of trolls, insisting on reinforcing the idea that their mere utterance holds the power to get our panties all in a wad, comes far closer to offending me than any such enshrined utterance ever could. In interest of being allowed to participate in, like, 99% of easily accessible discourse I'd like to participate in, I compromise by finding substitutions that aren't yet recognised (so far as I know, at least) as offensive by the people who have problems with "bad words." For example, I might conspicuously leave all the work of coming up with something awful to the reader, as if to say the reader is probably better at thinking up "offensive" things than I, rather than using precise and explicit terms like the popular "crap," "freak," etc.
Rules like these are designed for efficiency in the majority of cases, not efficacy in every case. You may think of a hundred technically allowable ways to offend, but the majority of players will not--they're far more likely to use the same old standbys. The rule allows others to report such players and gives the GMs/mods justification to dispense a warning or ban. It is therefore an effective rule.
wtf is a "game booster"? Isn't that what they call cheat devices?
Don't make a advanced race of inventors into a placeholder!
No, it's what they call turning off all non-essential programs on your computer automatically so your game runs faster.
Hey Eury, is there any particular reason that OOO has opted to use Drupal's forum software as opposed to other things like vBulletin or IPB? Granted, I'm not familiar with Drupal from a managerial perspective, but vBulletin and IPB both offer the option to have the Report button enabled, amongst a plethora of other things that would make things easier for any moderators/community managers that are on the website.
PHPBB and SMF are also good alternative forums. All 4 can be tied into other user-data (such as our SK accounts)
3 comments from admins on one thread, new record for me XD

This works btw. I used it once and the thread was in the trash bin when I next came to visit.
They were tired of people TRYING to swear. It was just gettin' too disappointin' to watch...
