What are your opinions about the Winterfest?
I joined this year, but I won't mention the month. I would like to know how 2011 was like. How did the winter fest go? What improvements do you think there will be? Leave them in the comments below

Well, A Santa-Cube named Imposto-Claus was there, advertising for King Krogmo Santy Hats, and a lotta snow was there. LD and BN was already available, I might add.

It was more eye candy than an actual special event like punkin.
Plus lots of steam newbs asking about where to find snowballs, never to be seen again.

When it came around last time, there was snow. Lots of snow.
Imposto-clause came around and advertised the PvP modes, and Krogmo coins could be traded for temporary Santa hats a-la Dark Harvest's paper masks. Overall it didn't affect much, but the visuals and new music were a nice touch. It's a shame there weren't any permanent versions of the Santa hats though.
As for this year I'd love to see Santa hats as an accessory, instead of a proto-based costume helm. That, or permanent versions of the snowfall Santa hats.

Last year's Winterfest sucked. It was pretty much just temporary hats and a new LD map. You couldn't even do anything with Impostoclaus outside of haven. Hopefully this year they do something less disappointing.

Yeah, and T1 lockdown was a bloodbath, although most of em would just throw their snow and leave. Less scrupulous players would tell them they need to fill the bribe meter for snowballs to appear.

Its nothing to really get excited about. The Santy hats magically dissolve, so there isn't too much of an incentive to get them... unless you're just rolling in krogmo coins. Then you can be all cool with your hat for a week or two. I'm sure that this year there will be some kind of event or something new, though I really don't care too much if there is or not. Like I always say- more content for the "actual game" is always better than temporary events.

Frostbite disaster from my perspective
Perhaps with the new mission system more of the "steam newbs" will be retained if it is repeated this year. Last year was a complete disaster. I played a bit of T1 LD and am not at all surprised that people tossed a snowball and left. The games were filled with "Pro's" who lied to them about bribing and then proceeded to beat the crap out of them with fully heated weapons. Materials were purchased for a fraction of their value in front of the AH as players tried to gather enough crowns to play lockdown. Players stood in haven trying to figure out how to play LD and were ignored. The game mechanic for them to figure out what they needed to do was broken, and a portion of the community did everything they could think of to take advantage of them.

I loved it
Snowy and I loved it. Although hopefully my last box gives me a scarf for winter...
I like winter.
I don't like "fests".
But if there's snow I could back it.
