Removing/Expanding the Sleep status

Personally, I think there is no point for the sleep status to be in the game anymore. It is the last known and used status in the entire game for a few reasons.
1. Unlike other statuses, their is no monster at all which inflicts sleep (even if there used to be)
2. Unlike other statuses, their is no weapon at all which inflicts sleep
3. Some people find the sleep status useless anyways since things like stun, curse or maybe freeze would be a better alternative in keeping a mob/player from attacking/moving properly.

Of course this is only what I think personally, but I have NEVER seen anyone use sleep besides in the training hall. Whilst in the clockworks people usually just drop sleep since other vials would be much more efficient.
If people do not want the sleep status to be removed, then sleep should be used more often in game. Basically, adding monsters that inflict sleep or weapons that do so as well.
Thoughts?

What people think so far: A few want to add more weapons that inflict sleep (things like tranquilizer guns or bombs which inflict sleep). Some people say that sleep can be really useful for buying some time. Not too many people are wanting to status itself to be removed.

If there are no plans to remove or add in sleep fully soon, please remove the sleep resistance/vulnerability on armors. there is no way for it to be afflicted to us, for now. you can put it back in later if you want.

-BTW sleep was removed because it was too OP. no one wants to completely lose control of their character for an indefinite amount of time.

not enough deets. anyway...
Sleep Vials is pretty good in SL. especially on the things that respawn.

actually, sleep was removed because players let themselves get sleep on purpose to recieve healing.

@Darkbrady Meh, I think Blitz would be a much better option than constantly throwing sleep vials and attack. Freeze would be more appropriate.
@Canine-Vladmir I have no idea who mentions what XD I only hear about news like, 1 year after its been announced :P

Even more so, the devs should just make up their mind about it. They need to act on it... either decide that they won't ever have time to make sleep a thing and get rid of sleep vials+sleep resistances (sleep UVs would be "compensated" just as they already are "compensation" for other aspects of the players that collect them), or eventually re-add it in.

When should they re-add it in if they do that?

-After guild hall updates... but that's a given.
-Along with balance updates to lockdown and defensive armor/weapons.
-Along with new content that comes with new items (sleep will need weaponry and more armor than just jelly... plus we'll need sleep levels)
-Therefor, after any other planned large new updates, which may or may not be bundled with this....

But then, that's just my speculation. I am as are we all, innately wrong.

I really don't see a reason for a sleep status, I think they should to change it to like hypnotize which will make a monster or 2 attack other monsters for a short period of time like:

Basic: 20 sec

Super: 40 sec

Ultra: 60 sec

@Steadyeyes so you just added your own idea that has nothing to do with this thread?

What would happen with zee cores? how do you compensate for that? people who have then would value them too much for it to just be taken away for something vastly inferior, but it's not like they didn't do that before, rip. Sleep is just a better freeze until the enemy starts to heal, which if you are a swordie you will have plenty of time to get ready for an attack or even gunners can start a charge. I just don't see sleep ever balancing out with what is already in the game. If they make a sleep bomb it would be the best at crowd control if you have a bigger thing you want to focus on. I don't even know what I'm trying to say I'm just typing ... I think I'm done

Well, I think it would be pretty cool if we could craft tranquilizer guns to inflict sleep on certain monsters, like beasts, although this still wouldn't really put the Sleep status effect to its full potential. This was just an idea I had while looking through this thread.

@Tuhui Fair enough, it could be useful for some people. But I still think there's a lack of sleep-ish stuff (love adding "ish" to the end of words =D ). Adding a few monsters and weapons which inflict the status would be neat =) I <3 sleeping, 12 hours a day =), 14 hours sometimes............ Feels weird arguing with my guild master 0_0

Sleep is excellent for crowd control actually.

You can put the big guy to sleep while you take care of the others.

Sure stun, freeze and shock can do sort of the same, but stun only slows them down, freeze doesn't let you shield bump and shock isn't so good for control, despise allowing to cancel attacks with the zapping it does... That's where its usefulness comes. It makes enemies completely harmless while still be capable of bumping them (not sure if it's possible actually...). Sure, the status heals them, but it would be foolish using it on an enemy that has been nearly beaten to death.

I have an idea for weapon: A crossbow that inflicts sleep. It's basically a 1 shot only magnus with longer range that can deal the strong effect of sleep. Charge would be an arrow that can pierce through targets (same charge could be done to the magnus line really...).

Other variants of that crossbow could either deal high pure piercing damage, or also deal fire, poison, or even shoot rocket puppy rockets! (has to be slower though).

As for enemies, eh, we might have to think better on how is sleep going to affects us 1st... after all, being stuck in one spot completely unmovable, even being unable to attack/shield, would make us sitting ducks, if not sleeping forever.

If it makes any more sense, any projectile fast enough can penetrate trough targets, specially a pointy arrow. And the arrow has a injection system that immediately injects some sort of substance to make the victim asleep, while the arrow still passes through him.

TL:DR: TECHNOLOGY.

Sorry, +1 to removing it for good, at least for now, I believe there are some more pressing matters than the full reintegration of the sleep status.

For once Spaghetti and I are talking without arguing :P. But anyways, fine, forget about removing sleep =) Time to add more sleep XD Wolvers that inflict sleep, slimes that inflict sleep, spaghetti (plural) that inflict sleep, papayas that inflict sleep, sleep that inflicts sleep (sleepception), swords that inflict sleep, guns that inflict sleep,etc. You get the point :P

@Darkbrady Regarding the arrow doesn't kill them first :P

@Dead-Bard Might want to read posts from other people =) They have some darn papaya good ideas

Message of the day (in papaya's life): School informed us that a Grade 12 had Meningitis. A disease which can cause things as minor as nausea, headaches, etc. To life-threatening things such as brain disorders, rashes which result in limb amputation, and in some serious cases, death. I want to go to school sooooooooo much more now 0_0
