Recon: Returning to Heal?

Simple question really: do you think its' worth it to return to base to heal as a recon? Especially on long or large maps (like Frostbite or Ramparts). Strikers cna boost back and forward if they're confident they'll make the most of it, and guardians can slowly heal up as they defend; but recons have no ability to heal and travel normally, and even slower if they stay cloaked to remain alive.

Usually I just push on ahead with low health, even if I'm relatively near the base, and continue fighting until I die anyways. This may be becasue I might be able to make more of it, since I'm gunning, but in general I'm wondering if it'd be more worth it to take me back to base and heal, even if it costs me time and usefulness in the match; I hate to think that going in with low health and getting killed quickly could have been avoided and ultimately been more productive if I was full health. Or I could die quickly anyway and have to deal with a double-trip and a death respawn...

Thoughts?

I'm a recon and I heal but

I'm a recon and I heal but here are the reasons. Sometimes, I ambush people but they end up trying to fight me so I try to turn invisible and sneak back quickly. Also with that little detector that recons have to let people figure out that a recon is there, it means I'm in big trouble. They find me easily.

The strikers have good instants, they kill me without even seeing me and if I turn invisible to leave then they end up killing me again. I used to be a recon that only captures but now I'm trying to defend bases.

up

The point is that while you go back, heal and return to battle you could have just kamikaze'd and respawn with full health.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Largely depends. Sometimes you only need to wait 2-5 seconds to respawn. Other times, it's 30 seconds or so. Returning may take less then 30 seconds so you might be faster then. You also have more staying power with max HP, so you can defend a point better then.

Personally, I fight on when I

Personally, I fight on when I play recon. Its more if you feel you can handle yourself. If you feel that way, as I do, you keep on going until you die. If you don't, you might find yourself with low damage and caps as you kept going back to heal.

Well, am at least glad to see

Well, am at least glad to see I'm not bein' slammed by "lol you go ahead? What a tool" considering so many Strikers don't; I often have to remind myself that's because of their booster...

you could have just kamikaze'd and respawn with full health.

That's what feels right! :D

HAMMER!

Hammer Is my recon weapon In some ways it is useful Like fighting big groups of strikers..
Just dont use the 3rd strike...

When Im fighting a RECON I Use pulsars or bomb Or anything that has a wide range of attack...

oho

This is actually something I've thought about recently, too.

My rule of thumb is this: If you're on the half of the map closer to your base, heal. If you're further out, work til you die.

If I'm 1 pip of health, I might as well try to remove their control of one of the points on their base (not guaranteeing actually capturing it), because even just removing their control is useful in that it might:
- pull them away from your side of the map and back on their side
- let you keep their newly-respawned busy / damaged/dead.
- actually get captured, and be an extra bonus for your team.

But yeah, if it'll take you more than 15 seconds to get back to base, stay out there.
You can sort of reason your way out of it though, like if you think someone might have gotten past your team and you're just 'going back to defend', then it puts you near your base lol.

One thing I will note though: in Mines, I feel it's safer/more time-efficient to run to your base and quick-heal on the super heart pads than go heal in the middle. The only times I go to the heal pad in the middle are if I'm thinking of doing a last stand and ambushing strikers coming to heal/cap 2.

For me personally, I usually

For me personally, I usually don't go back to heal. I find that Im sneaky enough that when I have my cloak up, only Pulsar/Blaster spam can find me. Either that or I've just been fighting people who have no idea how to deal with recons, and thus gives me a huge ego boost. Either way, I think of it as "If I'm invisible, they can't hit me", so if you have a full invisibility thing, I'd fight it out. If yours is say, halfway gone and you have anywhere between half a pip and a forth of your life, I'd retreat. Not only is it a good opportunity to check up on bases that you've already capped, but also (in my experience at least) the Strikers/Guardians are so paranoid, they'll think you're there even if you leave. So they'll be buzzing around looking for something that isn't there, while you're safe and sound, healing. Its not like you leave and they suddenly know that you're gone. Anyway, that's what the other side would be. Personally, as indicated by the first part of my post, I fight it out. It's more fun, plus worst case scenario I do no damage, which technically I'd be doing the same thing if I ran away.

I'm a coward.

I stay out until 3/4 of my health is gone, and then I run away. Sometimes, if I'm out numbered and have a good amount of my cloak left, I'll use it to buy my team time and just screw with the enemy's team's heads by leading them on wild goose chases instead of capping points. Nothing puts them on edge better than a recon with good footwork.

"It is he who runs away that lives to fight another day", and I take that to heart.
