So I got to thinking one day (yeah I know, pretty rare), and I noticed a striking similarity between a great work of fiction and your very own Spiral Knights.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with The Time Machine I will skip to the point of interest.
This book and/or the two films have two huminoid creatures that dominate the earth. They are the Eloi and the Morlocks. The Eloi are above ground "evolved" humans while the Morlocks are below ground humans that tend to machinery, each looking different as if an entirely different race. In the 2002 movie, the Morlocks are divided up into different classes with the "Uber-Morlocks" being the so-called "leaders" over the others. The Eloi are peaceful creatures... and the Morlocks aren't so much.
Here on Cradle, the Strangers are peaceful creatures that live in the Haven. Gremlins are found within Cradle, the Clockworks, and have a leader named King Tinkinzar, and I have yet to discover a peaceful Gremlin within the Clockworks.
I skimmed the surface, but notice the similarities? It's as if the Gremlins are the Morlocks and the Strangers are the Eloi!
Dig deeper and you just might find even more similarities... ;)
And for those of you that know a thing or two about the book/movies...
Does this make us the time traveler himself? :O
Post your thoughts/comments.. I don't know everything about SK or The Time Machine... maybe more lies hidden here than what I've seen.
On doctor who, the silurians live under the earth, while us humans are in the surface. Silurians have different "subspecies", mostly attributed to social status. They want to conquer the surface and kill us all since we are "bald apes". And doctor who is about time-travelling...
