I'm trying to find a point to the constant battling and of fighting whats the point of this game other than get weapons and and fight things?
Whats the point
Play for free as long as possible.
Occasionally whine about energy market to let off steam.
Finish all of the upgrade lines.
Dole out riches to beggars.
Start a guild.
Solo as far as you can.
Create a stratum on a gate all by yourself.
Create a gate all by yourself. (Good luck with that one)
What's the point of playing Basketball? It's the same thing every time and you don't make significant measurable progress between matches. Hell, when it's over, you end up leaving and the court goes back to being the way it was before you cleared it. What's the point?
In during existentialism on a video game forum.
@ FenixStryk
While I appreciate the comparison as far as games go, I do think that basketball has the huge plus that it is also physical activity. So it comes with a whole host of benefits to your life, body, mind, and stress level that a video game can't really match. Other than that I agree completely! It's competition and fun the same as any other structured game.
While video games don't match the physical bonuses, who's to say it doesn't relieve stress? Stress is subjective. (edit)
What's the point of chess? There's only constant battling against mobs until you get the final boss called King. And, mind you, there's no addons since REALLY long time - no new units, new bosses, new moves, new classes for pawns, new skills for knights, new spells for bishops, anything...
@sketchytexas I was referring to the biological phenomenon of reduced anxiety from exercise. But of course you are right! There are other kinds of stress as well and other ways to feel relief from them. Another plus for anything that is just plain fun!
@merethif Lol /thread?
Mental activities are fully capable of reducing physical anxiety and stress. Not that physical wellbeing is not vitally important for your wholeness as a person, though.
To the OP: if you don't enjoy the "constant battling and fighting" then there is no point: you're not going to enjoy this game. I never understood the condition, seemingly unique to video games, where people will constantly do something they don't enjoy during their free time (see also: most raiders in most MMOs). (The condition whereby people do something they don't enjoy make a living is almost equally as cryptic, but that's a whole different discussion.)
To blame Boswick for everything you hate and love in this game.
Examples:
Dam you Boswick why did you make these new swords now I need to train more items =(.
Wow, I just died to an alpha I BLAME BOSWICK
Wow....Dogrock just got sunsilver and I didnt.....eh Boswick owned me again dam you =(
Try it out its fun =)
<3 Boswick
I havent swung a virtual sword in over a week, I find my fun in trying to get (in my mind anyways) the best gear I can, it's like collecting baseball cards.
Keep in mind the game just launched, if you're bothered by the grind that much, don't play? It's not a quest kind of game, it's the kind of game where you cramp your fingers clicking. If you do like this game so far, be a little more patient ya?
Conformist answer
To get to the core of Cradle and help the knights harness the energy source to power the mothership, and thus allowing us to complete our mis......see you next expansion!
Burst-your-bubble answer
To create as much bloodshed and high power equipment in circulation. When finally the world itself teeters on the brink, Xenu shall come and in one fell swoop, capture all of us, carry us to this planet called Earth, and throw us all into volcanoes to be vaporized.
Forum flame answer
Probably the same reason you play video games.
Empathizing answer
It's not so much the point. If one always knew true purpose, or the need to know true purpose preceding any endeavor, there would be much inaction and far more thought. However, it is thought that gives rise to opinion. Opinion gives rise to individuality. Individuality leads to dissent. Dissent leads to conflict. Conflict leads to disorder. Disorder eventually self-legitimizes the unfortunate vicious cycle that is doomed to repeat itself, given the nature of human beings........(if you're still reading, go outside please :p)

Google 'Bughouse' and 'Knightmare Chess' ;)
The add-ons are optional but they exist!
Get stuck between the wheel thrower and the wall? I blame Boswick!
(also, yes, bug report submitted)
The point of any game is to have fun with it, whatever that means to you.
Personally, I enjoy running around whomping on things with my Kamarin, and collecting crafting recipes. For others, it may be to get the best gear in the game and beat Vanaduke, or make zillions of Crowns playing the Energy Market. Whatever floats your boat.
...if you consider the meat and potatoes of this game to be "grind" why would you play it?
The "grind" is the part that's actually fun! The loot and achievement are, to extend the metaphor, just gravy!
You try having fun with it?
