1. Snarbolax-I don't know but he looks like he is a giant mutated wolver.
2. Royal Jelly-Whatever the jelly cubes come from is where this gargantuan thing originates from. Too much jelly was probably just cut off causing this freak to come and then he got his slimy body on a crown.
3.Roarmulus Twins-Gremlins built them, duh.
4.Lord Vanaduke-I don't even have a possibility of how he got like this.

LIST!

1: The lack of information burns me.
2: He moved into an abandoned Almirian castle.
3: Seerus ordered the iron claw clan to construct them.
4: Vanaduke seeked power to fight off the 2 kingdoms that ganged up on him but his power burned everything.

Edit: Most of the lore can be found literally on the level descriptions.

My opinions

Snarbolax:
It was most likely a creature that naturally evolved from his natural habitat, which it was most likely "teleported" to the cradle (as far as I can remember, the Cradle is not only made of machinery, but also from parts of other worlds). The energy from the core might have affected the beast to a more radical mutation, along with other living creatures.

Royal Jelly:
The origin of the slime is explained with a meteorite. It was most likely that such slime managed to find an abandoned castle and called it home, and developed enough intelligence to form a hierarchy, if they hadn't yet.

Roarmolous Twins:
Pretty obvious, Warmaster Seerus designed the mechanical beasts, along with the factory as a way to destroy Haven.

Vanaduke:
On the wiki: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Firestorm_Citadel
TL;DR: Almire was a cool place, 2 kings of different lands teamed up to dethrone Vana, he gets overwhelmed and promises revenge as he goes to the mountain in search of some sort of power. When he finally finds it, he turns into the vana we know and tries to get back his land. Ended up murdering everyone in the kingdom and now he sits his buttocks on the throne along with hundred of burned corpses and a roasted land all around him.

Just to add up, the whole kingdom could have been also "teleported" the same way as I mentioned on snarby, since the back story doesn't explain how did managed to get stuck in the Cradle, and I doubt he was there all along.

"The origin of the slime is explained with a meteorite."

Wasn't that just the lichens? Or did I miss an intro-module?
