Tier 3 gear: what are the basics?
Just recently started messing around in T3 and generally getting slaughtered. So far it seems I REALLY need resist gear just to survive Depth 24+, let alone worry about something like Vanaduke. Both shock and fire completely brutalized me.
So I'm looking at things like the Divine set and the Grey Feather set ... I can't really afford to "experiment" much with 45k recipes, and I'm not sure which is worth pursuing.
Current Gear: Ashtail set, Leviathan, Wise Owlite shield, Volt Driver
Planned Swap-in weapons: 4* Nightblade, 4* Flourish
So, my questions:
- For T3 in general, and not Vanaduke, is taking Divine gear worthwhile for the Shadow defense, or does Normal damage outstrip any benefits from doing this?
- Is Vanaduke and the fire-stages leading up to him the only worthwhile goal in T3?
- Is fire and shock resist generally the most important? e.g. does stun resist really matter?
- Do I reaaallly need to carry multiple resist sets around and swap based on the strata? =[
- When the !@$% do 5* weapons start doing significantly dmg than their 4* predecessors? At depth 25, Leviathan was hitting for 1 more dmg than a 4* calibur
(I assume Vog is preferred for Vanaduke and/or anything with Normal + Elemental defense + Fire resist.)
Basically what Hazel said. Alternate resistance sets aren't a bad idea, and certainly a skelly set for those fiend/undead levels works out pretty well, but at present the focus is high normal resistance, followed with elemental and shadow resistances (in order). For status resistances fire is a big one to resist. Shock can be an annoying one and you may choose to resist it as well. Freeze can honestly be a killer as well. Stun and poison fall short of being worth mention because you can almost always play defensive while they end. Curse is only really necessary if you play with a faust/gran faust.
Yeah, no normal defense just sorta gimps what would be otherwise good gear.
Vanaduke is the only solid goal, but OOO will probably add more bosses later.
Fire resist is the most useful, yeah. Trinkets can help, and in general you just want good elemental defense, but you don't need to swap out gear, not by a long shot.
Also, every level 1 equipment starts out as the same power as a level 10 version of it's previous incarnation would do. For example, Leviathan Blade level 1 and Ascended Calibur level 10 do similar damage.
I've died countless times due to shock from full health.
8 Counts of shock is no joke. It's like being set on fire and frozen at the same time. T3 Lightning strata will annihilate a party if they aren't careful.
I don't think we've actually seen a full fledged T3 lightning strata, just a few scattered floors. It's often more threatening than fire, and kinda for the same reason (oilers vs quicksilvers).
I'm just now breaking in to the nameless set, and my weapons are a volt driver, mega magnus, and a shadow driver. With this gear, I can profit from solo runs of firestorm citadel before selling mats.
Vog is staple for a reason. Volcanic Demo is a different flavor of Vog. The rest of us shoot guns and dodge.
Flourish + Volt will probably do everything you need. Hurting Vanaduke is a whole nother problem however.
Cool, that helps a lot. Thanks much for the replies everyone! =)
Divine is repugnant, stop thinking about using it for anything but costume. No normal defense = getting hulk smashed. Everywhere.
Grey Feather is fine as long as you're not bad at dealing with gremlins, lumbers, and devilites. If you're commonly having trouble with them, it will get much worse if your stun resist is low.
Carrying any resist set but Fire is pointless.
When weapons are level 10, they're noticably better. There seems to be a bug with Ascended Calibur doing a lot more damage than it should lately, though.
Vanaduke is the primary goal of the game's "progression", yes.
Vog is the optimal set for everything in the game unless you're a bomber; then you want Volcanic Demo.
