People joining a locked party.

A couple of days ago, I was in a party with two other people. I was the party leader, and as such, completely locked the party. While we were in a danger zone, someone managed to join us. I never sent them an invite (I don't even know who they were!). They weren't anyone on my friends list, and they weren't on the friends lists of the other two people in the party. When asked, the random joiner said that they just joined through the gate and that they were placed in our party.

I find this a bit bothersome, as it defeats the purpose of having a locked party. I'm not sure what could have been the cause of this, either, unless it has something to do with being in a danger room.

Though, I will point out, that there is a way around having a locked party that is confirmed. I was duo-ing with Deslare, and I was again the party leader. Locked party, same as usual. But his friend (not on my friends list) managed to join the party through joining him. This too seems to be defeating the purpose of having a locked party, especially if it's supposedly locked to friends too.

Like, if I don't even want my friends joining, why would I want someone else's friends to join?

I did a couple of searches, only to get greeted with threads such as "Lower the cost of energy!" and "Let's keep the energy at 3k!", so I don't know if this has been addressed previously.

I tried to track down the specifics of when it happens and when it doesn't happen, but didn't have any luck.

I created a party as locked, and multiple people on my friend's list were able to join. The option to join remained until depth 3, where it disappeared and no on was able to join without an invitation.
When we got to depth 4 (the terminal), friends were once again able to join.

I spoke with another friend who had a party I couldn't join, and he was the party leader and had the same settings as I did (lock party, no checks on allow friends or guild)

In conclusion, I don't know. I submitted a bug, and will continue to do so when it happens and hopefully the data they need will show up.

Yeh, I have no idea. I submitted a bug report in game when the random guy joined. And when a friend of a friend was able to join while it was completely locked, I decided this needed to be addressed in the forums as well (plus I wanted to see if other people were having this issue).

When I had it locked, none of my friends could join. But as soon as I invited someone, one of their friends were able to join them, as though the party "options" were not applied to all people in the party. Like, it only applied them to the party leader somehow.

But when I left it open to friends, friends of friends could join. Even though they weren't on my friends list. And I feel uncomfortable with this. It's probably not a bug, but I really think it should be limited to friends of the party leader.

Was your depth 3 a graveyard/treasure vault though? Because those are completely locked, so no one should be able to join you on those levels.

As far as I can tell, if you land in a Treasure Vault, you aren't allowed to join. Anything else in the "?" Depth is join-able.

I think this is a similar problem, but when I create a part, I don't have both "Allow Friends" or "Allow Guild" button pressed, but my friends are still able to join, even with "Invite Only" enabled.

I'm experiencing the same

I'm experiencing the same issue, and while I have not noticed specifics as to which levels friends are able to join in, I have been submitting bug reports via F2.

@ShinStar: Oh, you're right, my mistake. I thought graveyards were locked too, for some reason. And yes, that's the same as locking your party, and is probably a similar issue.

Also, it seems to be random? I'm not sure, but I have never been able to join a locked party, while certain people can join my locked party. It seems more and more like it's a problem of the party options not being applied to all party members, though. So it will be locked to the party leader's guild/friends, but won't be completely locked to the party members' friends/guild(s).

I really hope they fix this issue, it's been happening for quite some time as far as I've seen. Not really sure what causes it. :\

Agreed

I have experienced this as well, and especially on solo runs, during danger rooms or arenas, where it is hard to kick someone while playing, I end up sharing many materials with players who I'm sure would be perfectly happy in a different party, when I enjoy the challenge and rewards of soloing the challenging aspects of the game. I love playing with parties as well, but when I want to try a solo run, I am disappointed when the party locking system doesn't work as intended.

I realized that the notion of

I realized that the notion of it being a problem with the party settings not applying to everyone is kind of moot because of the ability for random people to join a locked party. It might still be part of the issue, but the fact that people on nobody in the party's friend lists can join even if it's locked means there's either another issue, or the issue isn't that the party setting aren't applying.

Also- yeh! The random guy that joined me got a free forge spark out of it because we were finishing up the danger room, and two party members were working on killing the remaining lichen colony, while one other went off and started smashing the treasure boxes (because for whatever reason, the gate decided to open, and tell us that we were victorious). I would've kicked the guy sooner, had we not been busy trying to fight our way through the danger room (which he obviously wasn't prepared for- as he died almost instantly). But also, we wanted to ask him how he got in. In retrospect we could've just waited to open the treasure boxes, but that seemed more of a miscommunication error in the party, haha. And it's whatever, that guy got a forge spark, and then he got kicked, essentially. Making it so his 10 energy wasn't entirely wasted. :P

This hasn't happened in the past few days for me, though. But I'll be sure to report it if it happens again.

This is still a problem and

This is still a problem and still in need of a solution.

Invite-only locked parties do not function as expected: individuals on the creator's friends list can still join without invites.

I've also submitted multiple F2 bug reports.

@zinwhip

Have you tried turning off the option for friends and guild mates to join? Be default when you lock a party it still allows for friends and guildmates to join.

Closed party, friends and guildmates can still join:
