I'v seen this new guild hall item called a mist well, what exactly does it do?

I'm not sure. I've stood next to one, but I've never used it. It seems that you can withdraw mist energy, or deposit 500 energy or more. So you must be depositing crystal energy? I recommend that you read the release thread at the top of the General Discussion forum.

The Mist Well takes Crystal

The Mist Well takes Crystal Energy deposits (minimum 500CE) and converts it into Mist Energy with a 20% bonus. You can then withdraw the Mist Energy to replenish your own.
