Divine Veil + Skolver Coat

I would get defence to ALL forms of attack shadow/pierce/elemental/normal with these then along with that I would get fire/shock/curse/and freeze resistance.

So pretty much a jack of all trade set but not high in all.So would this set be viable cuze I feel abit of defence of aganist everything would be viable expecially in flame citadel since there a variety of enemies that all do different forms of damage.

Would this work?

(At this current stage of development) piercing defense is useless, and shadow defense is marginally useless. Keep in mind that almost all attacks deal some amount of normal damage as well, so not maximizing that stat is incredibly dangerous.

Vog cub. Vog cub is all anyone needs.

Vog Cub isn't the only option. Your combo would work fine, Silenterr.

Eh

Define "work"

I'd rather have a few sets and wear them according to which stratum I'm playing.

No it wouldn't. Unless his aim is to end up dead a lot.

Any armor without normal defense is worthless. Mixing and matching, if it involves an armor without normal defense, is stupid.

These are facts.

I've seen the word "useless" being used too often for weapons and defensive gear... Like the flourish is supposed to be "useless" against jellies. Not like it does 0 damage against them...?

Maximizing defense against one certain damage type is quite ineffective, as you will never on any tier be 100% resistant to that damage type. Your only way to reduce damage to 0 is with infinite defense, this is the way defense works.

In other words in theory having a little defense of all types is the most efficient, as the first defense points are worth the most and more points get increasingly more ineffective. But... then you're assuming you'll take damage of all types evenly, which you don't. How much damage you take of each type depends on what monsters you encounter and how good you are against them.

So suit up according to your skills / playstyle. :)

Thank you for your replies It

Thank you for your replies It seems like hybriding between armour and specilizeing abit on all forms of attack and abit of most forms of resist seems to work. So i guesss ima have to go make myself a divine veil.

My main character is terribly mismatched at the moment. Most of my good 5* gear is in inventory so I can raise other gear. If I want to try out new gear and weapons (and perhaps sell a few), I will endure under-leveled gear and mis-matched sets. That is the way of the crafter. Luckily, I can wear my good gear as costume while raising new gear... except for the shield. Can't hide that noob shield.

When you keep grinding and skilling up gear, you develop enough muscle memory, skill and strategy to get by with weak gear. Eventually, you will get good enough and have enough gear options to tackle anything in Spiral Knights except...

The infamous LAG monster. It kills my character no matter how well geared I am, even on Tier 1 floors.
