Since I've gotten half a dozen guild invites in-game in the last two days, I figured I ought to come clean and be perfectly clear on my criteria for joining a guild. Not like any one who's invited me in-game will ever read this, but whatever.
1. The guild needs to be active. Not just one of those "Hey, I started a guild a while ago and I wanted to upgrade the guildhall, give me a free ride" type a' deals. I don't give free rides.
2. I'm currently ONLY a 4-star player. I am TRYING to upgrade to my first set of 5-Star gear. If I'm not paying into anything and you pester me about that, I walk. Easy as.
2.1: Pestering, as in constantly nagging at me every time I log in. Once in a while okay, maybe even twice a day. But that's where I'd draw the line.
3. I'm not looking for free rides. I want to feel like I'm actually doing something for myself. I'm not a charity-case after all.
4. I'd like to join a group of easy-going, decently mature people who realize that humans are imperfect creatures and we do fail at times. I say this because I am rusty, and I tend to die at inconvenient times.
5. I work to pay my rent, buy my food and otherwise pay my bills. Everything I've gotten in-game has not cost me a single actual penny. I can't just up and spend $40.00 on a game just because I want to fast-track myself, or anyone else.
5.1: If I can get everything I got without paying for it, you can too. Don't come to me looking for a hand-out.
6. I have a list of goals that I intend to complete. Some of these are personal goals that may make me seem greedy. If I feel that anyone is getting in my way, I'll let the guild-master know. If the problem persists, I'll inform both the guild-master and the offending party know. If it continues a third time; I walk.
7. I am, contrary to what Steam constantly tells me, an actual human being. If you want me to respect you, give me the respect I deserve.
7.1: As an addendum. Please try to spell your words properly when addressing me, otherwise I probably won't figure out what you're trying to say in time.
7.2: Also, please only communicate with me in English (UK). I'm a little deaf in my [Insert foreign language here] ear.
8. Just because I'm Canadian doesn't mean I'm nice. Give it some time though, my cynical quips can become almost endearing, or so my friends tell me...
9. My current list of gear: Ash Tail Coat and Cap, Silent Nightblade, and Dark Thorn Shield. I plan on getting the Vog set, Acheron, Barbarous Thorn Shield, and Polaris. I need to do Roarmulous runs to get Bark Modules for my Pulsar and will jump on any opportunity to do so. At a later date I'd like to have a Snarbolax set to use as costume armour, because I think it looks cool, as well as a Divine Avenger to be able to do Elemental damage in melee.
10. Last one. I'm a fairly laid-back guy most of the time, as well as open minded. Just don't try to cram your own beliefs down my throat and we'll get along just fine.
Well, that's that. Any takers?
Elegance IS a newly formed guild (we did start up official recruitment the day of the guild hall updates) but since this guild has been planned for a long time by Mysteryzx and I, it's not one of those created with the intent of getting a "free ride" guild hall. We have not and will not "demand" or even expect our members to keep up with the upkeep or help with expansions and buying items. With some reasonability here, ones who don't donate may not get much say in how things are decorated.
Neither Mysteryzx nor I will be doing any "begging" from you. We know how to support ourselves and each other on occasion, and if you by some rare chance choose Elegance, you would find I make sure there isn't an abundance of begging around and about. You have your stuff you need to get; I respect that and I'd make sure others did as well. And no, I won't make you take any thing from us, lol, but guild sponsored Shadow Lairs are something you would have to expect as free. If anyone were to get in your way of your goals here, I would handle the matter in the most appropriate way I could find as an experienced Guild Master.
I hope that addresses most of your concerns you had, and I do think our activity is going quite well for a new guild. Look foreward to seeing what guild you choose!
