I finally decide to put my prismatic plume, which is a pretty rare accessory, in the Auction House, and Three Rings puts in 3!!! more a few hours later!?!?!? The timing, not to mention the quantity, are far beyond coincidental. I mean, seriously OOO, WTF?
3 Prismatic Plumes in AH ?!?!?!
you're an absolute jerk. To take pleasure in someone else's misfortune for the sheer fact that they are being hurt financially, even in a game. Does it do you any good? no, you don't want one and won't be bidding on them. And yet, you're happy to see them undercut a fellow player? Bravo. I'll be glad when karma comes around and screws you over.
No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm pleased to have a greater opportunity to win one.
Three of them up on the Auction House means I have a better chance, as do two other knights out there.
That's a good thing!
Chill out. How do you even know that his post is malintentive? He was possibly just excited about the featured auction and didn't realise the impact it has on individual player economy.
Don't rage, WP:AGF
I agree with Wulfeknight. More prismatic plumes!!!1!1
Regarding the original topic, would it be possible to retrieve the plume from the market by buying it with an alt?
It should be possible, yes.
The only downside is the 10% listing fee. Still, if the complaint is that these 3x Plumes will lower value (by more than 10%), it's still a good option for the seller.
The accusation that OOO did this on purpose seems really silly to me.
Although I understand that this is a burn to you...are you actually implying that a large gaming company was actively watching the AH logs and waited either for you to put that specific item up, or waited for [any rare item] to be put up and decided to pour in more with the malicious intent of sabotaging your sale?
I mean, I'd believe it more if it was an entirely unique accessory and they didn't want one player to sell it for some bizarre reason but...
Well, I'll just presume that you're just angry and need to blame someone, rather than actually thinking you've been targeted.
In the meantime; Hexzyle has the right idea; ask guildies/friends to help raise a temporary lump sum and put a ridiculous bid on it (at least higher than the three of Featured), to get it on an alt, give your people their pennies back and be assured that no one will buy your expensively bid one while there are three on Featured to worry about.
Seeing as Prismatic Plumes aren't a normal item to appear on the featured AH. I won't imply anything.. but I know what I am thinking. (remembers past events)
. . . that this is not this first time such a "coincidence" has happened when a player put a relatively rare item up in the AH, and shortly after so did OOO. What I am saying is, yes, this was an intentinoal sabotage of the sell price, not targeting me, but targeting us as sellers.
It's amazing how some players seem to benefit so much from the surprising things OOO does (Not going to say Just which players to avoid any ugliness) while other players just seem to get Pawned
I'm not angry about the possible million crowns I might lose on the deal cuz' I really just don't care that much: however, I would just like to know why OOO feels the need to control the market this way.
Funny to see people arguing about how many prismatic items are in the AH. Such an interesting topic :P I don't see whats the problem...........
The Dragon Princess is just suspecting OOO of conspiracy.
Paranoia isn't a joke, you should contact your physician for further directions.
*shrug*
Maybe OOO just opposes the concept of allowing players to monopolise rare items. Wouldn't be such a terrible thing and all, especially considering how many players are blindingly rich, and all, compared to the majority that has to pay for runs.
I wish I was one of those lucky players that can benefit from all these conspiracy theories three rings is involved in. Hopefully one day I will get a chance to be rich.
@Mawa: No effence but that fake 600k bid on ur Prisma plume isn't gonna make more people buy it
I don't see how this might be a bad thing so to say because now you get to see how much the price is actually going to be. You also have a 500k bid on yours so I would see why the person that bid on it will be raging.
Lol.
Did you do something bad recently? Like....punching kittens?
As a sometimes merchant yourself, you should be able to very clearly see why OOO putting 3 of them up right after hers is a bad thing. How can anyone not?
Say there are 4 people that have been waiting FOREVER to get a prism plume and absolutely have 2 have it--and no one else on the game would want it no matter what. Those 4 would get in a bidding war until mawa's plume got bought out. But now, they would each bid the on a different one, and win 1 each for incredibly cheap.
Furthermore, Mawa's already has a bid on it, so that means she cannot pull it down and resell later, so she is stuck in a situation where there are three of her SUPER RARE item being FEATURED and ending a few hours later than hers will end. This means that they will get much more attention--as everyone knows featured items sell for more than there non featured counterparts, due to the fact that they get more visibility. OOO blatantly advertises there own auctions (you can't go to the auction house without see the featured auctions EVERYTIME), meanwhile someone has to actively seek out player posted gear.
The fact that hers has a bid on it and will be ending 2-4 hours before the featured auctions also renders the idea that this lets her see what they sell for as a moot point. Not only that, it --at least in the short term- destroys the value of the prismatic plume. Since there are 4 up at once, the price that any 1 will sell for is going to be incredibly less, and it will "set the market" for the items value in the short-term. Anyone trying to sell one in the next month or so will have to hear "well, three of them in featured auction went for XXX,XXX so thats all its worth.
Granted, long term, that number will become obsolete.
Still, i'm surprised how obtuse some people are being over this. Even those of you who think its good that OOO is putting them up (i am all for much much much more variety in rare accessories and items in featured) could express your opinions in a more humane and understanding way. Mawa is obviously upset--or was--and it doesn't take more than an inkling of intelligence to see that, or how this is going to screw her over financially. Why is it so hard to have empathy and sympathy for your fellow knights on this game? Why are there so few that can understand another's problems, or recognize when someone being harmed by OOO's action, be it from negligence, stupidity, maliciousness, or coincidence?
Thats why i called the 2nd poster and absolute jerk, and why i think less of nearly everyone posting here. Let me give all of you a sample of what a decent post would look like from someone who cares more about just themselves, but for their fellow knight as well. EVEN IF THEY WANT A PRISM PLUME OF THERE OWN.
Example,
Aww man, that sucks Mawa. Thats really lousy that this happened to you T_T. I know its little consolation, but take whatever heart you can in knowing that whoever does happen to win it will love it, and it will absolutely make there day. I might even bid on it myself. I have been searching for a prism plume forever, counting down the days in hopes that OOO would put some up on the auction house. Its unfortunate that it happened only hours after yours was posted. Although i want one, i wish they wouldn't have undercut yours, and with 3 no less. I know that would really upset me too. I'd like to think there was nothing malicious about it, and it was just poor timing.
See? Wasn't so hard to type out a post that expresses you own desire to get one without spending your life savings while also understanding how this affected the original poster. I realize its the internet, and this is a silly game for fun, and 99.9% of us don't REALLY KNOW any of our fellow knights, and only have a passing acquaintance with those we do call "friends." That being said, the lack of compassion in this community is sickening. All but a very very small few don't give &#!%'s about anybody but themselves or anything that doesn't affect them.
Lastly, it would seem unlikely that OOO is intentionally undermining any of their players, as someone stated above. However, its not necessarily as out of the range of possible as some of you might think. OOO has stated that many of the staffers have personal accounts, and play the game and interact just like we do. These people are not benevolent gods. They are just people, every bit as capable of developing dislikes for certain players, hold grudges, and seeking petty vengeance.
Not everyone knows what to look for, or knows it when they see it/hear it, but there is more than a little suspicious activity that goes on with certain knights in various situations. Mawa's "conspiracy" is more likely than you guys realize. Not saying she is correct in her assumption. But it shouldn't be disregarded out of hand. While still unlikely, the likelihood is much higher than some would realize.
i forgot, we aren't supposed to use our brain's on the internet.
y u mad, u jelly, u can't be cereal.
The world has been put back to rights. :D
OMG so random!
i forgot, we aren't supposed to use our brain's on the internet.
/facepalm
Doesn't look like that one mistake in an otherwise correct line was deliberate, especially when followed by an obviously deliberately wrong line~
Jus' sayin'~
If they cared about players monopolizing the market I'm sure they would add a few more Rose Sets (cough maybe Red/White/Black) since a certain 2 players bought ALL the 1.5M chaps someone was nice enough to put on the AH and are turning around and asking for 40k-50k ce for them.
Just saying.. before you give a reason like that about monopolizing actually look at the market. But.. for fun I'll enjoy increasing the price of the Prismatic Plumes Three Rings put up with my atm very low amount of crowns.
Aww man, that sucks Mawa. Thats really lousy that this happened to you T_T. I know its little consolation, but take whatever heart you can in knowing that whoever does happen to win it will love it, and it will absolutely make there day. I might even bid on it myself. @Wodact:
There's only so much they can do without physically just handing it out to people. The fact that some people are that determined to monopolise things, I suppose only ruins it for those who aren't and just get caught in the crossfire.
The problem isn't that there is only so much they can do, its that they do entirely too much.
The games would be better if OOO attempted to stay out of the economy as much as reasonably possible. They could have the guildhall update and upkeep, do there CE promos, take the 10% AH cut and the 2% CE transactions cut and call it a day. In the meantime they could put this constant barrage of rare accessories into lockboxes thus increasing our odds of opening something great from a lockbox by 100-fold.
In this way, we'd still have the crown/energy sink in that people would be buying tons of silver keys, while also stimulating the lockbox function of the game. As it stands, a very small percentage of players actually open lockboxes. And lockboxes are literally like slot machines, or vegas. You have exceedingly small odds of ever getting anything good, and will most likely lose 90% of your investments. And statistics always regress towards the mean, so the more you open the less profitable you'll ultimately be.
But instead, OOO has inserted themselves in every avenue of the economy, and in many cases, in an attempt to undercut the player to player viability. Such as the supply depot. The supply depot is merely a means by which for OOO to restrict player to player sells of 5* gear. They would rather have 3500 ce being zapped from the economy than see CE going from one player to another. First they bind 5* items so people cannot jump straight to endgame. Then they let you unbind them for 4k ce--they'll must be sold for over 5k to break even with crafting costs. Then once players adjust and start selling them for a profit, OOO comes in and make a supply depot that sells them for far cheaper than a player ever could!!!! (granted, this doens't take UVs into account).
If it was really about helping players out, they could have made you have to reach a certain rank to equip 3, 4, 5* gear. (thus u can't start up, and buy straight to 5*, you'd have to do missions, just like you do to open up that gear in your supply depot) And then reduce unbinding costs to 3500 and let the economy for 3, 4 and 5* gear be a player to player market.
TL;DR
OOO is affectively "nationalizing" every aspect of the "privatized" market they can. The game's economy would be more free flowing if they left as much of it to the players as possible.
/rant
When they first started doing the featured AH is was a great thing. People paying up to 6M for certain things. Now the featured AH isn't really as great anymore and partly just certain players buying specific items from it to control the market. Example would be the pink/purple chaps. This is where we would suggest once again that Featured AH items are bound on purchase.
We want a free market, but that doesn't mean it shuold be the same as real life. You get greedy people who hoor up eveyrthing and monopolise, have more wealth than they can handle while you have people living on the breadline.
Just the same IRL.
Who says that's a good thing? Why shouldn't there be some limit on what people can earn; spread the wealth around a bit and let all players have at least a fighting chance?
not sure if you are agreeing with me or not, brady.
But thats my thoughts exactly. In a player to player economy more wealth gets spread around, even if its done so while a large percentage is accumulated by various captains of industry. With OOO nationalizing soooo much of the in game economy, everything facet of the economy they cut us out of is another arena in which the wealth isn't spread, it just sucked out of the system.
If all the awesome featured auction items had been planted in lockboxes you'd have three things happening. Wealth redistributed from the rich to the rich--a zero sum gain really-as wealthy merchants could afford to open more lockboxes and would then sell the super rare items to other wealthy people who wanted them. Wealth distribution from the rich to the poor and middle class, as they'd have a right fair shot of getting something awesome out of a lockbox, and then selling it to one of those same rich people. No wealth distribution, as either rich or poor would get an amazing accessory and just keep it to use themselves.
With OOO basically cornering the market on rare accessories, it ensures that only the rich are allowed to purchase these accessories. [or the other two options from above, but its exceedingly rare and requires an incredible amount of luck to pull something good out of a lockbox, and isn't worth the risk]. And even worse yet, like wodanct states in #29, with items that have a buyout and are rare on AH, the rich can grab a monopoly on those two. Its well known that the same players are buying those up over and over and over, since they are put on the AH with a fairly strict timing pattern.
You will never not find xairathan, derpules, and a few other well-known merchants without multiple coral and violet chaps in inventory at a huge markup. Or see them in AH placed by a merchant with huge markups.
@Uniquevariant
Obviously, like in reality, there are 2 parties in this situation. The party that is being set by Mawashimono, the person being affected by this addition to the featured page. And the ones who are unchanged, having no interest in purchasing it for their personal needs, or as an investment. I clearly understand the indignation from the OP, as I have been in the situation myself, with items that were on high demand without enough supply to satisfy everyone.
"Thats why i called the 2nd poster and absolute jerk, and why i think less of nearly everyone posting here."
I don't see any direct insults towered the OP in the first comment. You said it yourself, that there could be people that have been wanting this accessory forever. Didn't it slip your mind when you typed out: "Say there are 4 people that have been waiting FOREVER" in the comment directed to me that the person might want that accessory? I'm not calling you out as a hypocrite, or in any way do I find this to be an argument I'm just trying to figure out why you felt that top comment was disrespectful to Mawashimono. Maybe it was a sincere comment, someone who is ecstatic about bidding on one of them and attempting to obtain it to attach to a nice piece. You can never assume that something is personally hateful when you're not being the one affected by the situation.
My previous comment was in no way snarky to Mawashimono it was in all legit and what I was thinking about at the time. I do feel that this is completely coincidental and no way intentional to attack the player effected. Three Rings would never intentionally hurt someone who is a heavy investor in this game like Mawashimono. So that assumption is unnecessary and biased from the batch of players being effected. Who, in this case is only Mawashimono because she could be dissatisfied with the money that she will get in the end.
I didn't think he was being hateful or disrespectful to mawashimono. I just think its a jerky move to jump in with unabashed glee over a situation that causes someone else to suffer, and especially with the first post. And, without the slightest bit of compassion for the other party.
Its like if you knew your friend had lost his marketing job with company XYZ and you walked straight into his party and was like "AWWW YEAH GUYS. JUST GOT HIRED FOR MARKETING @ XYZ!!!"
There is a time and place for everything. The place to be ecstatic about prism plumes on the Auction house is not in the thread where Mawa is expressing her disappointment and frustration over the situation. And the time is not the first post directly after she made the thread. So, in light of the situation, i don't think he was being disrespectful or hateful, but rather completely self-centered and thoughtless, which is why I think he is a jerk. If he was being hateful and disrespectful i'd have a different name for him, one i'd not post on the forums.
I think the Auction House could use some new items on its listening. We've had the same items repeated for about a year now. Would be cool if Three Rings started putting up the Original Rose Sets, Redux Rose Sets, Dragon Wings, Valk wings, and probably some other volcanic/divie/primsatic items. I use to be against putting up the rose sets but after seeing a person put a bunch of original rose chaps on the Auction House and probably the 2 riches reseller merchants buying them all and mark them up by nearly 125% more than what they paid for them.. they no longer mean what they use too and are treated as just another cosmetic now.
They threw some original Rose Regalia stuff into the featured auctions when the feature was new, but predictably, people complained. There haven't been any since.
What I'd like to see is (moderately (mediums?)) UVd hipster weapons on the Featureds. Encourage some variation in playing the game itself.
Off-main topic Ik, but replying to last posts~
"Encourage some variation in playing the game itself."
HE SPOUTS MADNESS!
Forums Brady,
Apparently you and I are complete opposites in nearly all regards. I think OOO putting up UV'd weapons of any sort is opening up a pandora's box that should never be touched. Although I fully well expect they'll do it sooner or later as they continue to cannibalize ever aspect of the player to player market economy, as outlined in post # 31.
Its only the natural next step, for them to move in and take over the UV market like they have everything else.
@ jaunces,
If you really want one, i can get you a fiend v.high brandish for fairly cheap.
Lol Uniq. I think it'd be a fun way to encourage players playing with underused weapons. Certainly not popular/OP weapons (teethpicks, blitz, skolver etc) and possibly not high/max UVs.
I was thinking more like Iron Slug with CTR or Volcanic Salamander; maybe Ancient Plate with Normal or an Omega Shell.
That type of thing; something that shouldn't affect/break the game as much as just say to someone "ohey, a weapon I wouldn't ever craft/try to get a UV on...that has a cool UV; maybe I could toss that into a hipster set".
But that's also because I'm pretty bored of seeing the same things on the AH and would like to see some gameplay-relevant stuff instead of more fashions, and that's not only the only fair way I can think to do so, but a possible way to entice players to try out the unpopular weapons.
Ofc, it could never ever move onto stronger weapons as I think that would cause chaos.
Just a thought :)
Yeah. Lets start seeing some UV'd pepperboxes and Spurs on the market. UVd Big Angry Bomb? Sure why not? UVd Iron Slug? Definitely!
I'm actually really pleased to see three of them go up. Good job and thank you OOO!
