Hello there, name's Rhonder and I've been playing SK for ~ 3 days now. I've been able to work out pretty much everything okay (I started playing at the same time as a friend, so we've been helping each other figure stuff out) so yeah! However, I was wondering about recipes and materials.

For recipes, what are the different NPCs you can buy them from and where are they located? I bought this recipe for a cool looking 2* sword the other day (a... Troika I think it's called? Or something like that), but now I can't seem to find that NPC anymore, and I remember him/her having a lot of cool recipes. That was just the one that I could afford/wanted at the time. I did find the recipe seller in the Bazaar, but he didn't have that recipe, and I looked over his wares and they were all kind of sucky. I also know that there's that recipe seller at the beginning of dungeons before you go down the first elevator to a level, but it wasn't him either. Is there some other recipe seller that I'm missing?

And for materials, I guess I'm specifically wondering about drift wood since that's the only thing I need left to make that sword I mentioned. Is it better to just try and find that from a monster drop, or try and get Forge Tokens or wev they're called and buy them from the token guy? Is there a specific monster that i can farm for drift wood?

Thanks in advance :D

Recipes can be purchased from

Recipes can be purchased from Vatel in the bazaar, Basil at the lobby at depth zero of every mission, Basil at clockwork terminals in the arcade, or from the Hall of Heroes.

Vatel, the recipe selling NPC in the Bazaar, has a fairly limited stock of recipes, and he changes his supply every 24 hours, i believe.

The Basil you find at the beginning of a mission sells a different set of recipes for each mission. The Basil found in clockwork terminals sells a different set of recipes every time you visit a clockwork terminal, chosen from a list completely at random. Take a look at Basil's page on the wiki for a more detailed list of his recipes for each mission, here (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Basil)

There's also the NPC's selling recipes at the Hall of Heroes, each selling a static selection of recipes. If you're looking for one that sells Troika recipes, it might have been Izola (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Izola)

All three vendors are capable of selling troika recipes, though, so i can't really tell you which it was.

As for obtaining driftwood, those are only dropped by lumbers (The big tree golems that slam you with one arm.). You could also attempt to purchase driftwood from other players through the auction house, north of the fountain in Town square.

OOOOOH!

Ok that makes a lot more sense if some of their stocks change at the beginning of different missions and/or daily! Thanks for the heads up xD I probably did buy from Vatel then, but his stock just changed. In that case... I should just work on buying as many (good or decent) recipes as possible whenever I go to check them every day right?

And oh, ok... I might have to just go buy one then, though I'd rather not, since when I looked the only one in the auction was kind of pricy.

Thanks for all of the info though, it was really helpful :D

Well, vatel's recipes are not

Well, vatel's recipes are not very valuable, so you probably won't get any profit selling them to other players, so you should probably only buy recipes from him if you know you're going to use them personally.

The only time you'd really want to buy and resell recipes is if it's one of the few recipes that can only be obtained from the clockwork terminal basil, as his wares are random and therefore his recipes can be difficult to find.

Ah, well I'm not really

Ah, well I'm not really looking to make a profit since I'm just starting out, all of the recipes that I were/am looking for right now are for personal use. However, thanks for the heads up anyways for if/when I do decide to do a more in depth recipe search.
