i have a few questions about heat any help is greatly appreciated.

1st. If your in a party of 4 do you earn more heat than if your solo?

2nd. does your heat split over everything equipped (ie. if you have one weapon equipped will it level faster than if you have 4?)

3rd. do you lose heat if you die and are not revived by a team mate?

4th. what is the fastest way to get heat?

Heating up

1. My anecdotal experience is that I get the same heat whether I'm in a party or solo, as long as I don't die in a party and get revived by a teammate (in which case they take a portion of my heat as a thank you for reviving me).

2. If you have only one sub-10 item equipped, it will level up faster than if you have multiple items equipped that are below level 10 because all of your heat will be applied to it instead of split between items. Similarly, your heat will be lost if all of the items you use are level 10, so keep some reserve alternate gear around to level up when possible (and because it's fun to try different things).

3. You lose all heat from the current level if you die and choose to return to Haven rather than revive yourself. If you pay energy to revive yourself, you do not lose any heat.

4. The fastest way to get heat is to kill a lot of monsters as quickly as possible. The second half of a tier (after the terminal) will give more heat per floor than the first half, and the deeper tiers will give more heat. Currently, the forumgoing consensus is that the best heat per playtime is gathered in the Royal Jelly Palace. However, you won't get much heat at all against the Royal Jelly Himself, so I am not convinced that the overall heat from levels 15-17 in the Royal Jelly Palace is better than levels 15-17 in any gate. Graveyards also give great heat, but you can't guarantee that you'll see one on any given gate.

To make the top half of tiers worthwhile, try some danger rooms (if you can handle them). For 3 energy they give plenty of heats and coins and are well worth the price for both fun and rewards.

In general, if you play entire tiers (i.e. don't stop at the terminal), you'll get plenty of heat. I only do one tier a day and I've had no trouble leveling up my gear quickly. I wouldn't worry too much about heat and would just play through entire tiers as much as possible, taking on the biggest challenge you can defeat.

The wiki isn't that informative

I agree, this topic is very ambiguous in the Wiki. The big questions are:
-Does the amount of heat earned scale with party size (yes, all players earn the same amount of heat, but do you earn more heat doing a level with a 4-player party than going solo?)
-When X amount of heat is applied to equipment, do all pieces of equipment get X heat, or X/n heat, where n is how many pieces of equipment below level 10? I believe it is the latter, but I have not been able to numerically confirm this.

As for number 4, that's really up to you to discover. If you're skilled, then do pub games and res everyone after they pwn themselves on spikes or somesuch. Other than that, just do jelly runs.

Edit:
Got sniped, but sounds like these questions have been answered before. Perhaps someone should edit the wiki accordingly?

Bring the right gear for the

Bring the right gear for the gates you choose, and choose the gates that are right for your gear. Danger rooms are ALWAYS worth opening if you can clear them, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. I personally believe the small treasure rooms are worth opening as well.

The answer to #3 is a bit

The answer to #3 is a bit complicated since there are many scenarios to consider:

If you die then select Return to Haven then any heat accumulated on that depth is lost since you don't get to use the heat until you reach the elevator.

If you die and the remaining party members activate the elevator, then any heat accumulated is lost. You have to personally reach the elevator alive to apply your heat to the equipment.

If you die then revive yourself with energy, then 30% of the heat will be lost in the process.

If another party member revives you, then you give them 30% of your heat.
