i have an idea to make sets and weapons a little more interesting. add a power bar and skills. certain weapons and certain sets or armors will contain certain skills. for example, let's say that i was to wear the spiral demo set while holding a blast bomb, i could use a skill that allows me to throw a bomb shower in the air. there can be three skills, one weak skill, one semi-powerful skill, and one powerful skill. so people don't 'spam' these skills, there will be a power bar that charges slowly and if it will have three lines, if it passes the first line then you can use your weak skill, second line, you can use semi-powerful, and third line you can use powerful skill.

different sets will have different skills.

for the weapon sets (wolver, gunslinger, and spiral demo), you must have a sword to use wolver skills, you must have a gun to use gunslinger skills, and you must have a bomb to use spiral demo skills.

for other sets, hmm... let's say the chroma set. it will have its own skills without having to be in possesion of a weapon.

Arranging your kits perfectly for a map is a skill. We don't need a reason to use irrelevant kits.

If you want to give players superpowers, make monster stronger too. Balance accordingly.

Problem with such skills is concistency across all weapons. Sure your Demo "bomb shower" skill fits a blast bomb but not a shiver or vortex.

Weapons and shields (or whatever is in the shield slot) define our active abilities without pickups like vials or pots.

Seeing as without pickups we only have basic and charge attacks, there would need to be a new separate attack command to have these "skills". Convince Nick there should be more than one attack command when he clearly supports the existing basic or charge system.

Now explain how these are different from how charge attacks currently work. Except your versions are either overpowered from whatever you envision for bombs or too vague for you to have made this thread because you have no idea yourself.

The games sets are not balanced. There's no "arranging your set perfectly" since you can run any level in any set, and typically just focus on the main weapon sets: demo, wolver, gunslinger. Few other sets actually get used with any regularity; we do need reason to use "irrelevant" sets. The fact that you refer to them as irrelevant only furthers that point...

Not to mention the fact that this idea isn't pointless, it just doesn't at all suit the theme of the game, imo.

I find it quite amusing how many people use the RuleOfCool as an incentive to have their unbalanced, tacky and unnecessary ideas duct-taped onto the side of the already complete and well structured current combat mechanics.

When has the current combat system ever been insufficient? Never. Is your idea cool? Yes. Does that justify its addition to the game? Of course not.

I think, skills are okay, but not worth having, i mean me, i just need my swords and shield, and im set!
And Mtax is right, dont make it like WoW or Aion... Please...
