As a gameplay mechanic, crunching minerals would serve as the replacement source of CE.
As the only way to keep pseudo-free games afloat, well.. if gameplay is comprimised in the need to keep the system running, then perhaps f2p as the future of gaming might just be a fantasy

After opening the core you will find that hackers have hacked into the game and that the server will crash and that the hackers made everyone with SK accounts and are online will blow up their CPU's and thousands of people will die from Computer explosions and it will be on the news like crazy.
