So it seems to be that lots of people think the community is immature.

I cant help but laugh at this. Sure it may have gotten a little worse since SK is now on many different sites.
But do you want to see bad? You want to see just plain evil and immature? Make a League of Legends account and play it for a bit. I dare you.
You will just be in total shock at what some people do there. SK's maturity level compared to the community of LoL is like a group of scholars vs middle school kids.
Before you rant on how bad the community is here, take a moment and be glad it isnt like some other video games.

I didnt read that thread. LoL has millions of players so i'm sure there were more people than just me and you thinking the same thing.

They're being mean to us, Imma tell my mommy on them!

The works problem with spiral knights is LACK of communication. Joining a team with 3 deaf people seems way more common than people being "childish" or annoying in chat.

I would hate to have a community of purely mature people. The immature people to me make the game more fun. Hmm maybe that's because I'm immature O.O . Pfff whatever immature is what boring people call fun people.

"Pfff whatever immature is what boring people call fun people."
Then you're missing the point. People aren't asking for other players to have an educated discussion or whatever. They more like for them to avoid this:
"omg stupd lag i keep dying"
"omg y u so noob i mean look u have a noob weapon like that noob"
"can i have 5kcr plz? i need it"
"can u giv me 100ce plz"
"tab me plz i hav no energy"
"plz"
"rev plz"
"rev"
etc.
It's highly irritating when the people you're playing with aren't even playing with you, rather, just moaning and groaning and asking for stuff.
Childishness is fine; I don't particularly like playing with people who are dead serious all the time, but some order is still needed. I myself just don't like it when it looks like a typical six year old is behind the controls, because they could care less about other people/what they think, and so beg and whine.

Are these types of threads common on the forums?
Cause' I had never seen a single one until I posted my thread...

I've seen 'em before Laraso actually. Although the general trend 'round here is to have a few thousand of the exact same thread before moving on to another topic to beat to death. CE prices, "X is broken/ruining Lockdown", ect. With forum personalities like Jim-Dale and Chris gone, this place has no respite from these discussions, it's why I barely visit General anymore. Just nothing here worth reading.
As for the general topic trend, SK's community is nowhere near as bad as other communities, which are in turn no worse than others. The internet in-general but especially gaming communities are in constant race to the point at which they become so vile they can't actually get any worse, the fact we're nowhere near the ever sinking bottom of the barrel isn't much claim to fame. That being said SK is actually a decent community on the whole, and the complaints you see 'round here are mostly hyperbole and often rather stuck-up in nature.

This is a kiddy game. No one can say other wise.
Kiddy Games have....KIDS! who knew?!
Alot of these older....way older players have this hate towards Children. there children haters!
So if a game has kids in it, it should make sense that the game's forums and anything else related has Kids in them and a few old people, from thier view, view them as a immature community.
I hate War Game Forums. the suggestions there are stupid. Though, I think Activision actually listens to every suggestion.... BURN! from another Forum.

I've been on many online communities, and this is by far the most friendly, sophisticated, and helpful of all. Almost everywhere else, there are 7 out of 6000 actually helpful/constructive people. A lot of them don't talk at all, but the others are so childish and nooby, sometimes you have to cry. I wouldn't really complain about this community. I mean, sure, there are some really annoying people, but yeah, there are more un-annoying people than annoying people, imo. Or I go solo too much :/

1) It's a game. There will always be immature people. Especially in one where the game itself is not so much aimed towards any one particular age group.
2) Seems to me part of the problem is not learning to ignore people the moment they beg/whine/etc on first impressions or (even worse) sticking around with them.
3) Ever seen other gaming communities? If you think this is bad, you're in for a big surprise.
I'd pick one of these responses depending on my mood.
@Canine-Vladmir
It's not so much as older players hating children, it's more about more mature players hating those who act like children. Problem is kids who act like an adult (the responsible kind) is a rarity....grown men acting like 12 on the other hand is the exact opposite.

I think the bigger issue than any sort of age-range present in the game, is how people seem to have this extraordinary ability to be so obnoxiously immature about certain things whilst still preaching a mantra of the community being bad. Take for example a lot of complaints about begging, occasionally you get the justified one like Laraso's screenshots but in 90% of instances it's people reacting in a ludicrously disproportionate manner to something entirely harmless; which is in itself an extremely immature thing to do. Too lazy to look up the post, but someone very recently said something to the effect of "Am I the only one seeing the irony in these complaints about the community being immature?" and it's so spot-on, there are way too many people here who need to stop throwing stones from inside their glass houses, and many more who really need to stop jumping on bandwagons in discussions when they're unable to bring anything new to the table other than reiterate what's already been said in a less articulate way, or flat out copy and paste expressions from other threads (I know someone has been taking choice quotes from Laraso's thread despite having no real idea what they mean).

1. You have to be 13 to have a spiral knights accout
2. Just because it's rated EVERYONE doesn't make it a "kiddy game". Is tetris a "kiddy game"? Is Battletoads a "kiddy game"? There's a lot more depth to SK than you seem to think.

The story is a convoluted mess,
Tones seem less serious compared to games like R&C.
13+ rules is for every mno due to regulatons on internet.

It's not about the story, it's about the gameplay. Especially in Lockdown.

I dont need to challenge you.
theres no challenge.
One last time for you:
Its....a....kiddy....game.....,.....nobody.....even..............pays.....attention.........to.......the........13yr........old...........warning....Old.....people....like....yourself.....and.....others.....enjoy.......kiddy....games.......now......im....just........ridiculing....you.....so.....i......will.....stop.....now......(....heee.....heee.....heee....)

till they blow up comicly after shards of multi coloured bars appear.
or comic creature pulling an houdini.

You're missing the point K9, SK is rated 13+, hence, the community expectation for people to be acting 13+
It doesn't matter if no-one listens, the point is that's there.

I met a 40 year old that is a hunter in real life for geese. He was a very humble man. Good times....

Though it is a game free for everyone to play, it still requires a certain level of maturity among the players in the community.
The fact that no one really wants immature players has demanded a need for players to be mature. It is natural by itself, but there will still be some immature players that do not care about others and only want to help themselves.

Well, If OOO is advertising SK on these websites that any "immature" kid can get to...
http://www.kongregate.com/games/SpiralKnights/spiral-knights?acomplete=s...
http://www.miniclip.com/games/spiral-knights/en/
I'm sure there are a few others...

Really? Let's not blame the problems in our community on other, unrelated communities. You can't just go and say "Oh hey, look at all the idiots in our community. See? This is all because OOO advertised their game on Newgrounds."
People aren't immature just because they registered for an account on Newgrounds. They are immature because they are either too young (below 13) or because they choose to be an annoyance.
Judge people individually based upon their own actions and choices, not based upon the stereotypes belonging to other communities.

Just throwing this out there...
Spiral Knights is one of the few games with the following:
More people discussing the amount of immature players than immature players exist to be discussed.

That's what i just said in this thread: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/69832
Why make another thread about it?
