But how do you beat Chilled to the bone? I've finished it before but I'm having lots of trouble helping my friend through it.

Are you guys wearing appropirate gear? some skelly stuff will really help out in there. AND some elemental damage.
remember that kats can be ''stunned'' by doing a full combo on them, thus leaving them vulnerable to more damage ( do it just after theyve attacked). and remember to move out of their way as well as shielding their bullets

Bring shadow resistant armor and elemental weapons. Also you can shield push Grimalkins and mew cats. Trinkets would help too.

Shielding vs Grimalkins is
Shielding vs Grimalkins is tricky and probably best avoided as they have a nasty bite. They have a wide turning radius so use that to your advantage.
As few mewkats, learn their attack patterns and dodge. It could take a few passes for you to land one hit, so be patient and careful if it continues to give you trouble.
EDIT: Not sure what else may be in that mission but if there are Devilites...I'll pray for you.

For the CC just run, skip the monsters. It is straight-forward if you go quickly.

I think what they meant was shield bumping them, not defending against them with a shield.
oh that has a candlestick keep level in it which is probably what are you having trouble in. Here's some tips for it
You can't shield grimalkins (big kats) so try to dodge them or retreat into a lit area to make them go away.
Keep the candles lit as much as you can. If you are stuck fighting near one for a while, you can relight the candle while it's still lit to gain more time.
Carry the rocks to the next area if possible, this will make some areas easier where they put the candle in plain sight but make you break blocks or whatever to get to the rock in that area.
