Is it still Jelly even if I cannot solo the royal jelly? Just clear to him and leave?
Or is it better to find a T2 gate I can complete that has a couple arenas or something?

So royal jelly (sans royal) is about as beneficial as a T2 with an arena in it?
Yeah if you're just looking for STRAIGHT crowns and heat, than there's technically no need to fight the jelly king. The heat and crowns that are actually in his room is a joke. If you're fighting him, you're looking for jelly gems. Which admittedly, pay off in their own way.
Also, right now at the jelly gate there's a chance you can get an arena just before the palace. It's a super easy slime arena. If you're willing to be patient, wait until the elevator at Basil shows a shield before you go down. Doing all three rooms at an arena is a great way to get extra heat and crowns.
If you're willing to do danger rooms, than there's also a great chance for them in the pre-jelly stratum right now. It seems to be a 50/50 chance between gremlin or quicksilvers, and the quicksilver rooms gives you SO MUCH heat and crowns. I managed to get 4 quicksilver danger rooms in one run once. Sooooo good.
I don't think I can solo the Gremlin danger rooms, although I have a magnum for the healers. I could probably do the quicksilver though.
Trying Jelly and will wait for arenas!
All danger rooms function the same, and they're all very easy; kite, bunch enemies up while charging Levi/Combuster/Glacius/Final Flourish(if you're brave) charge attacks, turn around when they're bunched well enough and fire it off, then resume kiting.
I've done danger rooms solo all the way down to D28 using this strategy, and it's pretty flawless. Gremlins get to be a pain past D23, but I've only ever gotten one D24+ gremlin danger room.
How do you handle healers in Gremlin rooms?
Healers? Poison weapons and vials are the way to go; a venom veiler is a great investment, especially if you're adventuring in a party. Poison everything, kill the healer as soon as possible, then focus on other enemies.
That said, healers tend to cast a protective dome as soon as they get low on hp. The trick is to hit them with several regular shots first, then kill using a charged attack... so that by the time they're hurt enough to cast the dome spell, you're killing them in one shot. It's a tricky balance, though, and the effectiveness of poison and/or healer one-shotting depends a lot on party size etc.
Royal jelly doesnt give good crowns for 10ce so if you are in for that you leave him out anyway.
arenas are boss though.
