I agree. Sometimes they may be hard to find. For example: on Halloween, more mewcats would show up, and they would always drop a costume hat when killed.

I'm pretty sure that's false, Icee. Otherwise they wouldn't have listed the Power Surge weekend as a normal event that could happen again in the future. ("This weekend, we'd like to invite you to join us for the first Spiral Knights Power Surge Weekend!" - That was also the only Power Surge Weekend we had.)
Getting another Power Surge weekend would be pretty nice. Although there shouldn't be an item lottery, (or, prizes shouldn't be five-star) and I really don't think it'd work out well with the current economy. Changes/features need to be made, Auction House needs to be added and the economy needs to stabilize before it'd work out.
Additionally, the energy market is still a bit unstable aswell. It's possible that it'd cause prices to skyrocket.

That quote is far too speculative, and cannot be used to support your argument. People are not infallible, beyond it being a badly worded sentence easily open to misinterpretation; it in all likelihood is alluding to the fact it was the first time they were trying the power surge idea, it does not garuntee a second. Additionally, they may have been planning a second power surge weekend during the beta and never implemented it.
Icee's logic is firm, it wouldn't make sense for them to decrease that which makes them profit. Possibly during a down period, when a mass exodus occurs, holiday periods or a recruitment drive but it's far more likely they'll stick to a promotional tool like the Rose Regalia (fluff items) as it cuts into their profits much less.

Rap, your own logic is lacking a firm base. They can do power surge weekends to improve their public image and drive the recruitment of friends into the game. They'd likely hold it on special occasions for the most part (holiday times when people are likely to have time off, universally), but really, don't discount public relations as an important tool for making money.

It took place the second weekend before the end of the preview.
The next and only weekend between the first power surge weekend and the end of the preview was a preview finale. There were reduced elevator costs again, but it was not another power surge weekend.
There was no time for another one to have been planned and disregarded.

@Feynt; While critique of my logic is appreciated, albeit uninformed. I claimed no ownership of the logic to which you critique, it was Icee's to which I was showing my support.
However, I will reiterate; now that the company has a solid and growing player base they have better recruitment tools, such as freebies and limited edition items, these (besides production costs) items cost them nothing to implement, where as halving the costs of energy would damage their income. As far as constant promotion goes, this method is far superior to maintain over the long term.
Now, as it seems you jumped the gun, I mentioned how I ALSO agreed with you and that when they need to entice larger than normal amounts of players to play, a power surge weekend (or similar event) may return again. Funnily, that point made up the bulk of my final paragraph.
@Espeonage; the facts pertaining to the weekend are irrelevant to my point, I attempting to illustrate how the sentence structure introducing the power surge weekend could be unintentionally (or intentionally, hence my point) misinterpreted and the dangers in using it as a potential fact.
I do appreciate the heads up though, even if it was a the same event with added effects (could they possibly have planned that and given it a different name? It does sound better than power surge weekend TWO! It could certainly be a possibility, I could certainly be wrong).
Power Surge Weekends were used to encourage beta testers to do a lot of beta testing. In that phase of the game, the developers were far more interested in discovering and fixing as many bugs as possible and testing server load and such. Now that the game is live and there is no looming launch date, there is no reason for OOO to kill a weekend of profits with a Power Surge.
Other special events may happen, but I doubt they will include reduced CE sinks. The Rose Regalia promotion hints that future bonuses will be given to paying customers.
