Hi guys , advice please

I want to replace my dread skelly helm with something else for FSC runs

My current setup is
dread skelly helm uv freeze low a shadowsun slicker with fire med (thank you tianz) & a crest.o.almire. elem low

weps
combuster ctr high
blitz asi low undead low
polaris undead low
btb - asi low

1 elite sword damage trinket
1 tri heart trinket

I have

dusker cap fire med (bound)
wolver cap shadow high (unbound)
2 perfect seerus fragments

my options are
1)get p mask o seerus
2) vog cap fire med
3) vog shadow high
4) hold off till i can get snarby helm with fire med (im not shadow lair ready yet i dont think)
or do somthin different like sell the shadow high & buy fire med gunslinger & go shadowsun or deadshot

if it helps my fsc runs involve me charge blasting combuster & polaris knockbacks on slags, blitz for trojans & vana

and i do get hit sometimes by slags & run into fire too with medium connection speeds

input would be appreciated
thanks
Rick

you have nice equipment

You already have nice equipment. If you're considering getting rid of Dread Skelly, then you must feel that you have enough shadow protection, right? So I don't see why you'd want to use Snarbolax there. (I do love Snarbolax elsewhere.) I don't have a great connection to the servers or an ultra-fast game rig, and I don't usually wear any shadow protection in FSC. I consider fire protection much more important. So I prefer Vog Cub.

Of course, if you're mainly charging your Combuster, rather than swinging it, then Vog Cub doesn't help much on offense. (Do you use BTB on trojans? I do. Vog would help that.) For your playstyle I'd recommend PMoS.

Few helms are better in FSC

Few helms are better in FSC than divine veil, just saying. Fiend bonus for the trojans, fire AND shock resistance, and elemental+shadow. Very nice.

I'd go with Perfect Mask of Seerus as well. It'll help your blitz needling with its CTR.

Divine Veil

Rickypeter: I'm glad that we could help. Enjoy.

Batabii: Divine Veil's elemental, shadow, fire, and fiend bonus are nice, I agree. But there's no shock in FSC, other than the occasional trojan bump. More importantly, Divine Veil has no normal defense. Vanaduke, slag guards, and trojans all do tons of normal damage. Divine Veil is usable in FSC, but in my opinion it's far from the best armor there.

Perhaps, but all the sources

Perhaps, but all the sources of normal damage you mentioned are very slow and telegraph their attacks early.

I use ancient plate shield to defend against Normal attacks there.

Considering the enemy types there, I'd rather be without normal defense than without shadow defense. FSC is jam packed with Slag Walkers and Red Rovers.

I think all the sources of shadow damage in FSC are melee so they'd be mixed normal, so having something with normal defense could be just as effective as something with shadow but no normal. (not sure what the ratio is)

I used Divine Veil before switching to PMoS, didn't really notice any damage difference.

That's true, but sometimes they strike from off screen. Unless your party is functioning like a well-oiled machine, there is a good chance of getting hit by Vanaduke or slag guards on depth 28, just because someone lures them into you while you're doing your job.

To put it another way: If the Vanaduke fight is not worth optimizing your armor for, then none of FSC is worth optimizing your armor for. Or maybe I'm the only player who finds the Vanaduke fight by far the hardest part of FSC?

I'd personally just go with a regular Snarby Helm, no need for a big fancy UV. If you've run FSC enough, no damage source will be that big of a problem for you. Snarby helm will still prevent you from loosing 10 pips of health per hit, while giving you a nice sword damage bonus.

Also, I've seen people with a worse loadout than your current one go into the Rabid Snarby Lair. If you get a good party together, I'd say you are Shadow Lair ready.

If you're good enough/rich

If you're good enough/rich enough to even GET the snarbolax cap, you should have already finished FSC...
