About a month ago or so, I don't remember, I lent one of my friends 100k. I owed him 27k so he really owes me 73k. Just to make sure no one attacks this person, I will disclose the name of my former friend.

Question; Is there any possible way I could get my crowns back? Yes I know it really isn't much crowns at all, but, I want to make sure he doesn't do this to any other of his friends. Since it was my responsibility and my decision to lend him the said amount of crowns, must I simply forget this ever happened or can/should I do something about it? ( I don't think GM's will be able to help me on this )

Please comment any advice you have for me. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: He has refused on paying me back.

Well...

If you lent it to him then it is your responsibility, but have you tried asking him if and when he will give the money back? If he refuses then you may want to report him.

Boom!

Yeah I asked with no harsh comments or anything. He simply refused. Already did file a complaint.

Has he said he's not going to

Has he said he's not going to repay now? Or has he tried to avoid paying you back? Does he have the crowns to pay you back? If he does but keeps spending his crowns instead of repaying you, the best you can do for yourself is to not trust him again.

@Hollows

He has refused altogether. He has somewhat been avoiding me, sometimes he answers, sometimes he doesn't. I believe so, he does own an Extra Short modifier and lots of accessories. I guess he does.

honestly

i wish naming and shaming was allowed. Not insults, but if its not slander and the facts are true, then being able to inform others as to who are scammers and deadbeats would be invaluable to cleaning up some of this activity.

I get the difficulties that would be associated, and the amount of work that would be required for the OOO staff to substantiate claims means it'd never happen. But it'd be nice if the jerks in this game were forced to wear the scarlet letter they deserve.

An alternative that would work well, but i don't expect to ever be implemented, would be if you could see how many complaints/reports a player has had against them. This would serve much like the visible disconnect ratio that many online xbox games will show pre-match. Again, don't expect this type of stuff to ever be implemented, but to remove some transparency for this thieves would be nice and would undoubtedly deter some of these actions, and help players avoid finding themselves in such situations.

This game really needs to get a REAL policy against scammers and conartist. You know what would be nice? A log sheet for everyone's transactions that you can look at, and when you do a trade the game will ask you what "reason" the trade is for so that is added to the log sheet.

So you could have... Player 1 traded 100,000 crowns to Player 2. Reason: Loan - on a log sheet that only shows this info when looking at Player 1 or Player 2's log sheet. You know what else would be nice? The inability to remove items from trades without canceling the whole trade so scammers can't try to cheat someone on a trade based on latency and getting lucky with removing an item from trade right before the other player accepts it. I had a friend get scammed out of 500k a week ago because someone removed an Arcane Halo out of the trade right as he was hitting accept. Unsure what region the scammer was from but my friend was on the EU server.

Also don't expect staff to do anything about your 73k. They wouldn't return my friends 500k either.

As a random sidenote, the Torah/Old Testament has a passage saying something along the lines of "Lend to a stranger, but never lend to a friend."

(Passages like that are the reason for the greedy Jew stereotype)

Hi again

A agree with wodanct that we need serious policies against scamming.

I will take it one step further, anti-scamming tools need to be built into the game. To expound upon Wodancts idea, why couldn't there be a "loan" function. Not trade and blind faith they will trade u back later. But a legitimate LOAN button. I give you 100k cr/ce as a LOAN, and 50% of all crowns/ce you earn are given to me until the loan is repaid. Then the only way someone could scam you on the loan would be to quit trading or doing clockworks. I mean, sure there would be some workaround probably, but they'd have to try a lot harder.

The other absolutely key function that needs to be added is a "3-Way-Trade" between 2 players and Vise (unbind gremlin). There is no reason in the world for this to not be implemented. If player A wants sell his Divine Avenger to player B for 7k ce, but player A cannot afford to unbind then he has to ask the other person to trust him with upfront unbind fee. There should absolutely be a way to open the unbind screen (choose 3-way-trade, and then select player B), player B puts 4k ce in vices trade window, 3k ce in his own trade window and player A puts DA in his trade window...TA DA. Player A get's his 3k ce profit, player B gets his DA, vise gets his 4k unbind. Everyone is happy. I have solved the unbind scam problem!!! No one need ever make another support ticket and fight with support staff about it again.

Random Exploits101 by Juances:

Scam yourself with an alt. Spend all the money on market/AH/give it to randoms so there's no way to trace it back without affecting innocent people on a large scale. Ask a GM to pay you back and ban the poor alt.

Congratulations, you duplicated your money and helped anonymously other players. You're a Spiral Robin Hood.

So, yeah, GMs can do nothing without messing things up.

This is why energy loans are

This is why energy loans are so convenient; because they are logged.

Well, sounds like it was your responsability.

As much as I like this community, I NEVER lend more then 15k crowns to anyone. I've seen people tailing it with just 30k much less 100k.

errr

pm me the name and I'll poke him till he gives you all his money. or her..

meh, you should probably just be careful who you lend money to. I make sure I only lend to close friends, or close/trusted guildmates :P

if I were you, I'd keep bothering him about it just to piss him off.
