Combuster probably

I don't know what the depth-28 damage of CIV against undead is. I've been wondering for a while. But look at the depth-24 numbers (the lowest in Stratum 6) and the numbers for other depths. Combuster always wins against undead, and by a significant amount. I expect the same at depth 28, but we can't know for sure without testing.

I think Combuster.

I would think Combuster. A Leviathan Blade with a high damage bonus (be it against undead or generic, or both) will outdamage a CIV. Damage bonuses don't do way more damage. Combuster already has elemental damage, which is very effective against undead.
Another thing, if you can get zombies to "ride the charge" on the Combuster, the CIV would be worse. It would probably only be good for using the charge attack on turrets.

Combuster without any bonus at all is already better than a CIV wich comes with an high bonus....
At max damage even a Leviathan does better than CiV because of that.

What about a combuster at max bonuses compared to a CIV with its base undead bonus when fighting gremlins?

If you're fighting gremlins,

If you're fighting gremlins, why aren't you using a Shadow weapon?

Also combuster charge is strong fire. So yeah.

@Odin: Don't underestimate

@Odin:
Don't underestimate the CiV/Levi charge; it can easily rack 1~1,5k if you do it right. That's about as much as a Combuster charge.

@Juances:
max damage Levi only does like 10~20 damage more than max damage CiV; difference is utterly negligible.

As far as I'm concerned,

As far as I'm concerned, FoV's charge is superior to CiV/Levi, even given the chance of self-fire.

Also the spin attack doesn't do nearly as much against non-stationary enemies...

FoVs is, purely because it

FoVs is, purely because it gets special type damage (and thus even higher damage output than a normal type could ever hope for). The fire itself is great, being strong, but doesnae count for as much as the sword being elemental. If it was normal type and just did fire as well, it'd be really irrelevant.

As for the non-stationary targets, I did say "if you do it right". Just walking blindly up to a legged target and unleashing a CiV is pretty stupid unless your goal is specifically to send them flying.

So how does one do a CiV

So how does one do a CiV charge right anyway?

knock into walls or at least away from teammates

For maximum damage, you want to do a Levi/CIV charge with the monster immobilized, so that they take all three of the hits. Try to trap the monster against a wall. If you can't set up for maximum damage, then you at least want to avoid knocking the monster into your teammates. It's less of an issue with CIV than with Levi; CIV has less knockback.
