Depends
It all depends on what you want to use it on. Callahan will obviously suck against constructs and slimes. Polaris is more a sidearm, and good for LD, but Catalyzer is more fun, and in a team it is really good. Polaris sucks in teams, unless you want to blocks something/somebody from getting somewhere.
Also, catalyzer has 2 lines, which one do you mean?

Nah, you just have to know how to use it. It's great for pinning down a monster and letting everyone else wail on it blindly with swords.
Polaris is more useful than the Catalyzer
Callahan is more useful than the Iron Slug
