I love this game, but sometimes I just get so frustrated at poorly designed aspects:

Guild Ranking:

Here's my problem:

Recruits may use the membership list, guild chat, and guild hall.
Members have the same privileges as Recruits.
Veterans have the same privileges as Recruits.

There are only 5 ranks as it is, one of them being GM which only one/few people can really have. The fact that 3 ranks are exactly the same, when there is no way to edit permissions for specific ranks seems a bit useless. Having to be an officer to recruit is secure and prevents unwanted members, but compromises other aspects. I would rather see the ability to add ranks (Maybe up to 8-10) And name them and set permissions. Love the guild hall expansion though btw, I'm not hating on everything.

Lockdown PvP:

There's not a lot to be done here, it's just annoying how lockdown games are not PvP but in fact gear battles, pushing you to sink more money into the game. The amount of times I've been struck down by some guy with a Gran Faust he probably bought with his parents money is frustrating. Two hits is normally all it takes. I would have even preferred a PvP like lockdown but were gear is standardised to default values for each tier. This way we could play on even ground and I wouldn't have to spend another wedge of money on virtual items, just to enjoy a F2P game. I understand you need business somehow, but I'm just a bad loser, and it hurts. :D - Serious suggestion though

Bethesda Syndrome:

Bought CH expansion yesterday. Didn't realise I was paying for the same levels 3 times. (Different difficulties but same layouts.)
I expected more content than that, not sure how much to blame myself, I'd say no more than half the blame.

Guild Upkeep:

I don't think there is enough driving members to add money to the treasury. Sure I could post messages of the day, or ask them to deposit, but maybe if the benefits of deposition were more clearly stated as hints or window ads the scene may improve. I'm not sure where to go with this, a solution doesn't seem easy.

Just some little things that annoy me enough to write this, I may seem a tad negative but these aspects today made me rethink playing this game.

Love the rest, so keep at it and I hope to see more from Spiral Knights in future.

1- I agree with this one.

2- Neutral. Of course standarized gear would be balanced but also the lack of variety could make it dull and boring. Even with all it's problems, LD is popular.
Yes, sometimes the winner is the one with the bigger wallet, but if it wasn't for that, said player wouldn't have spend money on the game. F2P will have to deal with that for the game's sake. Afterall, LD is nothing but a minigame, not the core feature of the game.

3-You bought one OCH, they gave you 3 difficulty options. What are you arguing about?

4-Yep, guild halls aren't for everyone. But the whealthy like to look classy. Pumps the economy of the game. Another 'neccesary evil'.

Guild Ranking -- My thoughts

Guild Ranking -- My thoughts exactly! I was thinking there are too few ranks, and that the lower ranked can still have access to many privileges. I propose 7 ranks the max!

Upkeep -- Guild hall upkeep are meant as a crown sink. There is not necessarily an incentive to it, just that it keep the guild open.

HOW DO I MAKE THIS DISAPPEAR ALREADY

@ bethesda syndrome: OCH is made to only be played at one tier, the highest one you have access to. Although, I guess it would make sense to have each tier be different...

nvm I figured out :D

+1 to more ranks.
(members and vets have access to guild storages.)

I'm not gonna talk about LD balance here. There are better places for that, and it isn't a simple problem to solve.

don't buy more than you guild can support.

I already talked about OCH.

Thanks for your feedback, and

Thanks for your feedback, and yes Psychodestroyer, I was mad :P /slightfacepalm

I'm certain most of the issues I mentioned can be answered with simply 'It's for profit'.
I'm not complaining any more about the fact that guilds are clearly designed for people to sink more money into the game, as are many other aspects. I suppose I'm just used to F2P models in games with less pressure to deposit real life money. I know this topic is old, but I've always felt this game has a harsh economic system, though I can hardly complain as it's just a F2P game and no one is forcing me to play :P

OCH was my mistake, I should have known better, or to at least do some research *sigh*

I still feel guilds could be improved in a way that does not compromise any profits to the developers, such as extra ranks and such.

In conclusion: I feel it's a shame that the structure of this game is so, that the devs have to adopt this harsh economic system, although I have no right to feel I am being cheated out of anything as the game is F2P with (Seemingly nessisary at times) but completely optional payments. I don't suggest this system is changed as I have no idea if it works for the company, it would not be my place to provide an opinion on a new structure. I look forward to seeing new improvements and additions to the game (If free or at least worth the price tag for my greedy mind -_- ).

And so I will stop my pointless ragefest here :D

Thanks again for clearing my head guys!

Technically I was talking to Klipik, but you're welcome :D

You can add me ingame if you struggle a bit. I tend to help out others randomly for no particular reason, so if I help you, you don't need to feel like you're mooching off me or something.

Upkeep should scale to guild size

Come on, my guild is pretty small, we can't pay, Scrooge McNick! D:

vetrans have vetran storage.

...

To tell you the truth, recruit so really a probationary stage, so I would decrease the privileges for that,

Nuff' said.

Frop, out.
