Alright so you all know how Spiral knights is all across the world right? So sometimes you see french players or spanish players on a Haven, and they may try to talk to you, but what if you don't speak their language? Well I have a idea for it, What if, when you or someone else goes on a server that the people on speak a different language, whatever you say is auto translated so for instance, a french guy on Haven 1, he says something to you like "Bonjour" and since thats french for hi and if you don't know that, on your screen the chat bubble comes up as "Hi" instead of Bonjour.

If you had trouble understanding this, please post a comment saying that so I can explain it to you better.

You could learn the language.

I mean, we are isolating ourselves via speaking English only.

But on serousness.

Some translator make lost in translation effects, confuuse, or can't translate it.

Uh.

I honestly would have no idea how difficult that would be to program, but it sounds like a heck of a job. In any case, it almost certainly would not be grammatically correct.

Well

Well the Game masters always find a way to work things.

@Atrum Thats one way of it, but to those who don't find interest in learning the language, this can be more simple. I'm not saying to be lazy just, learning a language takes a while

Every autotranslation tool

Every autotranslation tool automatically becomes full of fail when it runs up against netspeak.

Processing Thoughts of You Always

Have you seen how much of a mess GTranslate and Babelfish make of things?
There are posts here in the Suggestions forums that are tantamount to this; where people from French or German language forums posted in the English ones by using an auto-translator, and ended up with something pretty much incomprehensible. I would have found it considerably easier to translate the words myself. For starters, there are specialised words in SK that aren't standard English and wouldn't translate properly; I believe that Shivermist Buster is referred to in the Taiwanese server as a 'cannon'. That doesn't include the issue of occasional minor typos (you like your Plague Needle to inflict Fish status?) and gaming terms. Besides, certain words have different meanings in different languages, but similar spellings - how would the translator know which meaning to use? Perhaps you just felt like saying 'quo vadis' or 'que sera sera' and don't feel like having the translator mangling your sayings?

The commands translate into your own language, which allows a modicum of inter-language communication and is much easier to use, not to mention already implemented. We could probably do with more command availability, but actually implementing an inbuilt, direct translator for chat... that's a no from me. -1

I can understand fractured (badly translated or grammarly structured) English perfectly, but I know most people can't, so this isn't such a good idea.
