It has come to that time of year again. the season of giving. While we all enjoy our Winterfest and go unlocking our own goodies, a question must be asked. In the season of generosity, I have taken a look back at my fellow knights throughout this year. A prevalent theme of this year was our community. We have called our community as a whole as greedy, ungrateful, and begging little creatures. But when I look into this mob of greed, I see an essence of kindness, joy and giving, a sanctuary in the unknown passage of darkness. It is this light that calms us from the worries of Crystal Energy prices, the troubles of the Auction House, and anger caused by those buggering Skolver clones. This light has given many a good thing to remember, whether it be a memory or something more tangible, and this light should feel at least once the kindness of the darkness that surrounds it......

TL;DR: Who do you think is the most generous player in the game? I wish to reward them with what will likely be a decent sum of CE.

Honk honk. Make way for the dead bunny.

Lesse...

Psychodestroyer, hands down. He's super helpful in-game and on forums, is awesome, helps peeps out a lot, and a bunch of other stuff. Today, he offered to carry me to t1 WF lobbies, and when I asked him if he would join, he said he was only carrying other people. He'll lend a friend money anytime, and is a 100% trustworthy. He's not exactly POOR...but he would deserve that CE more than anyone I know. :3

I would have to say Digicom, except that he really doesn't need any more CE.

Just because he's set to give out about 25K CE to the rest of the guild. Pocket change to him, though, he single-handedly maxed out our Guild Hall.

I wouldn't say me. As a Chinese comic I once read said, "There's always a higher mountain." As Qui-Gon said, "There's always a bigger fish."

For instance, my GM, Perronius gave a total of 16k CE out to three of our members, myself inclusive for giving a rational 'to do' with 10k CE. The winner got 10k CE, the runner up got 5k, and I got 1k for participating. There was no-one else participating, and my only contribution was to suggest blowing it out all on an FSC run where you Max-rev blast Vana.

I wasn't serious, but the suggestion had lol-value at the time.

Also, I'd probably just sit on it like a hoarding troll and either hardly ever spend it, blow it all out on crafting better gear, or whittle it away slowly by giving small sums out to friends and acquaintances that may need it, or all three.

I'm not usually big on spending.

"100% trustworthy"
^A reputation I'm trying to earn. Kind of a 'along the way' sorta thing.

You shouldn't be worried about the bigger fish...I'd be more worried about the bigger fisherman.

Fishing rods can only get so big.

Fish, however...

You'd have to try pretty hard with the biggest fishing rod possible to catch that.

Fisherman.

Fisherman.

Also, Jedi aren't allowed to abuse their powers for uses like that. Only when they need it is it allowed.

Remember Anakin? Told Padme Obi-Wan would 'probably yell at [him] for using his powers like that' (Moving a pear across the table).

I honestly am waiting for Nj or some other EoS members to find this thread..... No big EoS projects of late that have been publically announced....

I do know that I'll wind up roaming CL Rants and Raves posting random christmas-y memes about. Just to listen to all the ragers/laughs fill my mule inbox.
Ah but 'tis the season to be jar-ee, and there will nonstop "A Christmas Story" to watch with my mother for christmas eve... here's hoping work doesn't trounce me christmas day.

Speaking of, to all attempting to follow the mayan calendar... have a wonderful april fools day on 2013... obviously you will not be needing any more trickery after december 22nd steamrolls you.

For me:

For me the most 'giving' players have been Crowwkd, and Mister-chilled, and family.
We'll all have different answers of course. I just know these guys have really looked out for me and made my gaming experience so much better than it otherwise would have been.

So many, too many? :3

So from the looks of the people on this thread, I don't really actually know anyone - but still, I think it'd be cool if I could mention a few people that may not be as well known, even if none of them are qualified as the 'most generous'. They're generous enough for me to want to mention them. :]

PyneApll, founding guildmaster to the Machinists, is extremely kind to newcomers, old friends, and BN rivals. She's always optimistic, ready to lend a hand when need be, and she always pushes us to be our best. She's got the star quality in-game, and even transcends gaming expectations when it comes to giving advice to people about the real world. Although she's just a pineapple, she's our PyneApll.

Quantsr, ruthless BNer and also a fellow guildmate, has also proven to be exceedingly generous with his goodies - that is, money. Though he's now an officer, it was only a month or two ago that he joined the Machinists and started building up our guild hall and feeding our hungry mist well. He's a great addition to the guild, and the fact that he's never seen snow before just makes him that much more fascinating.

Grummpy [quit the game], despite being the relentless troll that he was, was actually a super nice guy. Funny and helpful~ whenever I mentioned something in passing that I wanted, he would come up with it not too long thereafter. Not sure what people's opinions on him were, but I think he was just a really misunderstood guy. That, or he just really wanted to live up to his name.

Theioden, Jempirian and my self-proclaimed LD teacher, is also very generous when it comes to gift and advice. What's more is that, this guy does not take no for an answer. If he's going to give you something, you'd better be in for a fight because he's giving it to you; whether it's a nice treat or an ugly beat-down in LD.

I saw a name up there that did deserve a rementioning: Perronius. I've only played with him a few times, in which he was very courteous and kind. But more importantly, I've heard his name in passing by more than one person; Johnthegreenguy (another generous person and a close friend) recently mentioned how both trustworthy and trusting this guy truly is - and how he always shares whatever loot he comes across. I guess an important characteristic of The Night Watch is that they're like family, and that's something I think every guild should aspire to have.

After hoarding an obscene amount of Krogmo coins, guildmate Muffinmuch also generously gifted the guild storage with numerous frosty items. More importantly, every time he's around there's always someone that seems to take a bite out of him, yet he still keeps on going - and that is something worthy of mentioning.

To be honest there are way too many generous people to mention. Whether it's material gift-giving or a kind personality, I find myself lucky to be surrounded by people in-game that know the true spirit of friendship. Yirumi puts up with my incessant deaths on runs and my nagging, Readreact puts up with my whining after he destroys me in BN; Vtmoon [quit the game] was seriously one of the nicest guys I have ever met, and one of the most helpful and selfless players. Utmostprovocative, Narutomaki, Rioklu, Duglet, and more ~ all of them, kindhearted.

Point of this post? Other than to bore you with names of people you may not know about and the way they've positively affected my gaming experience in SK, it's mainly to say that for me there isn't one sole, generous person. There are too many, and for that I'm damn happy.

Waybaked because of him giving away ~40kce worth of accessories to guild members, and ruby for his massive contributions to our guild hall - I'd estimate his donations at something like 15 million crowns.

The Widow’s Offering - Luke 21

1 As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

We'll never know who the most generous knight is.

I would have to say keep the CE. OP may need it for something. My generosity so far was just handing random players more cr/ce then they asked for example: asking for 20kcr I gave 25kcr. I donated 2,000 cr into guild treasury whenever i don't buy anything (I really don't buy much). Random acts of giving that's what I do.

It was last year... just

It was last year... just around Christmas time as it is now. I got my first Fang of Vog with the help of my new guild: The Risen. I was going to go level it, but then I faced a bit of a disapppintment when I realized that not even my Vog Coat and Cap were even finished leveling. And then, a helping hand came out of nowhere with a heat amp. It was a Christmas present from Gwenyvier. I was thoroughly surprised and I thanked her every day for a month. To this day, it still touches my heart that she did that.

We'll never know who the most generous knight is.

The point of that was that the widow was willing to give everything she had just to make a donation, and therefore it's not a matter of quantity. Of course, how much these acts of generosity can help is an entirely different matter.

I'll 4th Perronius

I can't think of anyone else as kind or giving. The man is the sheer epitome of generosity.

Need a small loan to afford that accessory you have sought after forever? Done.
New to the game and struggling to get some better gear? Handled.
Want to go on the run but don't have any mist left? Tabbed and taken care of.

Most personally, back when I was a new knight, just getting my feet wet. Looooong before my career as a Rogue. Before I had established a personal identity. Before the mountains of commissions began stacking up on my hard drive. Even before I knew what a Troika was, I had the great fortune of making an acquaintance of Perronius.

I had spent a vast majority of my time inside T1 LD and as such my advancement in the game was slow and delayed. During this time, missions were not implemented and even acquiring basic gear proved to be a trial and challenge. If things kept up, I was likely never to advance past Tier 1. Forever stuck facing Snarby, and I hate fighting Snarbs.

Perro, unaware of my plight, was conversing with me near the AH one day. He had a spare Swift Flourish and asked if I could use it. At first I was not aware the statement was directed upon me. I assumed it was intended for someone else, or perhaps a mistell. No, he was indeed offering me a Swift Flourish, my first 3* weapon. I had never felt so much power. The bloody poker was out damaging my heavy hatchet and ripping apart wolvers and silkwings. It was my first real foundation, getting my foot in the door of the game that is SK.

I still have that Swift Flourish today, cherishing the memory of his generosity.

So thank you Perronius, here's to you.

Many people did so much for our guild hall to help it become what it is today, and Nj always gives out loans and handed out super awesome gifts for Christmas! <69

I try to be a generous knight too, but I don't quite have all the resources I'd need, I still have many things to buy, but once I will be in an economical state to do it, I will make sure to be as generous as others were to me. :3

Luguiru

When I was about a week into the game I was derping around the training hall when I got a random trade request from someone wearing 4* stuff. I forgot what they were wearing but they gave me a Wrench Wand for free and said to enjoy it. I never heard from, saw, or smelled them again. Not long after that I was still pretty new but I would often find myself in parties with friendly people who prioritized the needs of others before their own whether by dropping health pills for others or getting in the way of projectiles when they have more health to spare. That unupgradable 2* weapon may have been the only free item I have ever received, but the greatest generosities I have ever received is the benevolence of others from people I may never see again. They did it for the sake of sharing happiness with others with no selfish intent.

And then everyone left Luguiru in the corner to cry and went to the market to buy their fancy new hats and earwax dispensers.

Perronius is a heck of a guy.

He's done all kinds of stuff for the Watch, and without him I think all us knights be part of a heck of a different community. When I was homeless (long story) he contacted me out of the blue to ask if I needed a loan to find a place to stay with. I didn't, but the idea of someone I'd only ever met online being willing to literally house me was a heck of a thing. I still have that message, and look at it sometimes when I'm down. He's basically a really swell guy and one of the kindest people I've met both out of the game and in.

I don't know that there's any one "most generous knight", but I wanted to take this space to thank the man. He's a guiding star for the Watch.

Obvious winner is Chris

Chris is by far the most generous, he uses his own real money to buy CE and give to people. I remember he gave a pair of dusky dragon wings to his guildie which had costed him about $10. Chris himself has evidently spent over $10,000 and given about $30 worth of CE to his guildies to earn respect. I think that this mighty player deserves a reward because after all, if it wasn't for Chris spending so much money who knows if the Spiral Knights team would still be able to bring brand new, and amazing updates to the game. Chris deserves this CE prize, because if he won then he might be able to play a lockdown game knowing that the CE he was using wasn't from his IRL salary, but with the CE given to him for keeping Spiral Knights alive financially.

<3 Love Chris for letting me be able to play Spiral Knights without having to worry if the game will die due to funding problems. What a champ. <3

Perronius (my main)... I can't believe I've seen my name so many times, let alone once. To all those who thought of me, thank you, I'm glad i was able to help you out in some way.

Those who have should share, and at this stage in the game I really don't need much. It makes me happy to be able to help others out when I can. That being said, what Mawashimono said strikes the biggest chord with me. "All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on". Like I said, I have it, so I give it. The true measure of generosity is those who give what they have from a position of poverty.

This is a question better left unanswered.

This question will boil down to "who is a well known knight who is also generous" and may very well place unwanted attention on that knight by people seeking handouts/ free things.

I think that this shouldn't be made a contest, but rather that knight should be repaid personally by people who benefited by his or her generosity.
